Richard Perkins (actor)
Richard Perkins (c. 1579/c. 1585–1650) was a prominent early seventeenth-century actor, most famous for his performance in the role of Barabas in Christopher Marlowe's ''The Jew of Malta''. At the peak of his career in the 1630s, many contemporaries judged Perkins to be the premier tragedian of his generation. Early life Nothing is known about the early life of Perkins, and the year of his birth has been estimated at 1579 or 1585. His professional career had begun by 1602, when he was a member of Worcester's Men; he remained with that company throughout its next incarnation as Queen Anne's Men, 1603–1619. With the death of Anne of Denmark in 1619, the troupe lost its name and patron, but continued in its theatre, and was known as the Red Bull company or the Revels company. Richard Perkins (scientist)
Richard W. Perkins is a former scientist at the Hanford Site and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory at Richland, Washington state. His research included study of nuclear reactors and their effect on their environment, study of the ash from the eruption of Mount St. Helens, and Operation "Star Wars." Richard Perkins (born in 1961 in Boulder City, Nevada) is an American politician. He served as a Democratic Party (United States), Democratic member of the Nevada Assembly from 1992 to 2006 representing District 23, covering parts of Henderson, Nevada, Henderson). Perkins served as floor leader from 1995 to 2001 and as Speaker of the Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Biography Perkins obtained a BA in criminal justice and political science from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was a police officer with the Henderson, Nevada, Henderson Police Department for approximately 25 years, eventually retiring as chief of the department in 2008. The most significant event during Perkins' tenure in the Legislature was the budget dispute of 2003. Nevada's tax structure has traditionally been heavily dependent on sales and gaming taxes. The Perkins family of Ufton Nervet in the English county of Berkshire were a prominent Roman Catholic family in Protestant England. From 1581 until 1769, a span covering seven generations of the Perkins family, they lived at Ufton Court in the parish. The last member of the family was John Perkins (d. 1769); on his death, due to an entail made by his brother Francis, the estate passed to John Jones, of Llanarth, and then to William Congreve, of Aldermaston, a relation of the famous dramatist of that name. Rick Perkins (born November 4, 1961) is a Canadian politician who was elected to serve as the Member of Parliament for the riding of South Shore—St. Margarets in the 2021 Canadian federal election. Richard Scott Perkin
Richard Scott Perkin (1906 – 1969) was an American entrepreneur. At an early age he developed an interest in astronomy, and began making telescopes and grinding lenses and mirrors. He only spent a year in college studying chemical engineering before he began working at a brokerage firm on Wall Street. During the 1930s he met Charles Elmer when the latter was presenting a lecture. The two had a mutual interest in astronomy and decided to go into business together. In 1937, they founded Perkin-Elmer as an optical design and consulting company. Richard served as president of the company until 1960, then became chairman of the board. The crater Perkin on the Moon was named after him, while Elmer was named after his business partner. Perkin was married to Gladys Frelinghuysen Talmage who became CEO after he died.
