Richard Garland
Charles Richard Garland Jr. (July 7, 1927 – May 24, 1969) was an American film, stage and television actor. He was known for playing the recurring role of Constable Clay Horton in CBS's television series '' Lassie'' from 1954 to 1956. Life and career Garland was born in Mineral Wells, Texas. He began his career in 1951, first appearing in the stage play '' Dark of the Moon'' at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Garland made his film debut in 1951 in the film '' Week-End with Father''. He then made an appearance in the 1952 film ''The Cimarron Kid''. Garland played Big Jim Moore in the film. In the same year, he appeared in the films ''The Battle at Apache Pass'', ''Red Ball Express'', ''Scarlet Angel'', ''Untamed Frontier'', ''Son of Ali Baba'', and ''Torpedo Alley''. Mineral Wells, Texas
Mineral Wells is a city in Palo Pinto and Parker Counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 16,788 at the 2010 census (14,644 in Palo Pinto and 2144 in Parker). The city is named for mineral wells in the area, which were highly popular in the early 1900s. History In 1919, Mineral Wells hosted the spring training camp for the Chicago White Sox, the year of the famous "Black Sox" scandal involving "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. Mineral Wells also hosted spring training for the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals in the 1910s and early 1920s. The baseball field was located in the center of town. In 1952, Mineral Wells was the host of the Republican state convention in which delegates divided between presidential candidates Dwight D. Eisenhower and Senator Robert A. Taft. ''The Deputy'' is an American Western series starring Henry Fonda that aired on NBC from 1959 to 1961. Fonda portrayed Chief Marshal Simon Fry of the Arizona Territory and Allen Case played Deputy Clay McCord, a storekeeper who tried to avoid using a gun. Synopsis Fonda narrated most episodes and appeared briefly at the beginning and ending of most segments. He played the lead in only six episodes in the first season and 13 in the second. Usually, he gave his deputy the assignment, and on rare occasions, thanked him at the conclusion of the episode.
