Richard-Lenoir () is a station on Line 5 of the Paris Métro, located in the 11th arrondissement. Location The station is located under Boulevard Richard-Lenoir, alongside the covered Canal Saint-Martin, near Allée Verte and the Rue Pelée. History It opened on 17 December 1906, as part of the extension of Line 5 from Place Mazas (now Quai de la Rapée) to Lancry (today Jacques Bonsergent). The name refers to Boulevard Richard-Lenoir, named after the industrialist François Richard (1765–1839) who went by the name Richard-Lenoir after the death of his business partner Joseph Lenoir-Dufresne. It saw 2,172,035 passengers entering the station in 2018, which places it in 247th position for attendance out of 302 metro stations. Hector Guimard
Hector Guimard (, 10 March 1867 – 20 May 1942) was a French architect and designer, and a prominent figure of the Art Nouveau style. He achieved early fame with his design for the Castel Beranger, the first Art Nouveau apartment building in Paris, which was selected in an 1899 competition as one of the best new building facades in the city. He is best known for the glass and iron ''edicules'' or canopies, with ornamental Art Nouveau curves, which he designed to cover the entrances of the first stations of the Paris Metro. Between 1890 and 1930, Guimard designed and built some fifty buildings, in addition to one hundred and forty-one subway entrances for Paris Metro, as well as numerous pieces of furniture and other decorative works. Parisine is a typeface created by Jean-François Porchez. Distributed by Typofonderie. It is used in Paris Métro, tramways, buses and RER parts operated by the RATP Group in Île-de-France. Starting in 2015, the Osaka City Subway in Japan adopted Parisine as the Latin-character component of its new signage system, which is gradually being introduced throughout its network. Jacques Bonsergent () is a station of the Paris Métro, serving line 5 and located in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. History The station was opened on 17 December 1906 as the northern terminus of Line 5 from Place d'Italie, replacing the temporary terminus of Quai de la Rapée, before the line was extended to Gare du Nord on 15 November 1907.
