Rice High School (New York)
Rice High School was a private, Roman Catholic, college preparatory high school in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City, United States. It is located within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York. The school closed in 2011 due to financial difficulties. Background Rice High School was established in 1938 in Central Harlem by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, who continued to fund the school through much of its existence. Named for Irish missionary and educator Edmund Rice, it was located at 124th Street and Lenox Avenue and was known as a basketball powerhouse producing alumni that included Kemba Walker. The school's basketball team won the CHSAA championship in 1994 with a roster that included Felipe López. Harlem
Harlem is a neighborhood in Upper Manhattan, New York City. It is bounded roughly by the Hudson River on the west; the Harlem River and 155th Street on the north; Fifth Avenue on the east; and Central Park North on the south. Felipe López (basketball)
Luis Felipe López (born December 19, 1974) is a Dominican former professional basketball player. He starred as a high school player and for the St. John's Red Storm in college basketball. López played for four seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has played for teams in a half dozen countries, as well as in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) in the U.S. Most recently, he has been a broadcaster with Spanish-language networks. Darryl McDaniels
Darryl Matthews McDaniels (born May 31, 1964), better known by his stage name DMC, is an American rapper. He is a founding member of the hip hop group Run-DMC, and is considered one of the pioneers of hip hop culture. Early life McDaniels grew up in Hollis, Queens. He was born to an unwed mother who surrendered him to the New York Foundling home. He was a ward of the Foundling, in foster care, until placed with the McDaniels and eventually adopted by them. Tom Gorman (umpire)
Thomas David Gorman (March 16, 1919 – August 11, 1986) was an American pitcher and umpire in Major League Baseball who pitched five innings in four games with the New York Giants in 1939, and went on to serve as a National League umpire from 1951 to 1976, then as a league supervisor. His son Brian has been a major league umpire since 1991 and wears the same uniform number 9 the elder Gorman wore after the NL began adding numbers to umpire uniforms in 1970. Keydren "Kee-Kee" Clark (born October 8, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player. At a height of 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) tall, he played at the point guard position.
