Rhythm In Arabic Music
Rhythms in Arabic music are rich and very diverse, as they cover a huge region and peoples from Northern Africa to Western Asia. Rhymes are mainly analysed by means of rhythmic units called ''awzan'' and ''iqa'at''. Wazn and Iqa' A rhythmic pattern or cycle in Arabic music is called a "wazn" ( ar, وزن; plural أوزان / ''awzān''), literally a "measure", also called ''darb'', ''mizan'' in Arabic language, also has other names like '' usul'' as is in Ottoman classical music) for example. A ''Wazn'' is performed on the goblet drum ( tarabuka), frame drum (riqq or tar), and kettle drums ( naqqarat). A ''wazn'' is only used in musical genres with a fixed rhythmic-temporal organization including recurring measures, motifs, and meter or pulse. It consists of two or more regularly recurring time segments, each time segment consisting of at least two beats (''naqarāt'', plural of ''naqrah''). Wazn Wahdah Sayirah
WAZN (1470 AM) is an ethnic radio station in the Boston, Massachusetts market, licensed to Watertown. It is owned by Multicultural Broadcasting, and broadcasts Chinese language programming, simulcast from M.R.B.I.'s New York City station. History The station signed on in January 1958 as WSRO, operating out of Marlborough. At one time, WSRO was a music station. Additionally, at one time, the station was simulcast in Gardner on WGAW (1340). However, in 1996, the station filed for bankruptcy, and was sold separately from WGAW in October. The new ownership gradually shifted the station to more of a talk radio format the following year. WSRO was sold to Alex Langer in 1998. In early 1999, the station let go much of its staff and became a full-time relay of sister station WRPT (650); soon afterward, the station lost its original transmitter location in Marlborough and relocated to a temporary site in Hudson. In Spain, music has a long history. It has played an important role in the development of Western music, and has greatly influenced Latin American music. Dumbek Rhythms
Dumbek rhythms are a collection of rhythms that are usually played with hand drums such as the dumbek. These rhythms are various combinations of these three basic sounds: *Doom (D), produced with the dominant hand striking the sweet spot of the skin. *Tak (T), produced with the recessive hand striking the rim. *Ka (K), produced with the dominant hand striking the rim. Notation In a simple notation, these three sounds are represented by three letters: D, T, and K. When capitalized, the beat is emphasized, and when lower-case, it is played less emphatically. These basic sounds can be combined with other sounds: *Sak or slap (S) (sometimes called 'pa'), produced with the dominant hand. Khaliji music (also spelled Khaleeji; ar, الموسيقى الخليجية meaning Gulf music) is the music of Eastern Arabia, the Gulf Arabian states and it is popular across the Arab world. ''Dabke'' ( ar, دبكة also spelled ''dabka'', ''dubki'', ''dabkeh'', plural ''dabkaat'') is a Levantine Arab folk dance. Dabke combines circle dance and line dancing and is widely performed at weddings and other joyous occasions. The line forms from right to left and leader of the ''dabke'' heads the line, alternating between facing the audience and the other dancers. In English, it can be transcribed as ''dabka'', ''dabki'', ''dabkeh''. Shaabi ( arz, شعبي'' ''  ) is an Egyptian musical genre. It is a form of popular working-class music which evolved from Egyptian Baladi in the second half of the 20th century, it's the core of Egyptian people music in streets and weddings and every day Egyptian life. Shaabi means "of the people", specifically "locally popular".
