Reşadiye
Reşadiye is a district of Tokat located within the Cappadocia land within the Kızılırmak River, Kızılırmak arc in the central part of the Black Sea. It is on the E E80 highway, on the edge of the Kelkit Stream. Reşadiye is surrounded by Ordu in the north, Almus in the south, Niksar and Başçiftlik in the west and Sivas in the southeast. According to the 2020 TUIK data, its total population is 43,870. Geography Geographically, it is located between 400 31 'north latitudes and 370 06' east longitudes and the highest hill of Reşadiye, established on the banks of the Kelkit River, is Erdem Baba Hill with 2.183 meters. This is followed by Küçük Erdem Hill (2.113 meters), Kabaktepe (2.037 meters), Çal Hill (2.022 meters), Mektep Hill, Tömbül Hill and Lalelik Hill. All of these heights are located in Günüş Mountain. Reşadiye Shooting
The Reşadiye shooting was an ambush that took place on December 7, 2009, at Reşadiye, Tokat Province, Turkey. Unidentified gunmen ambushed a Turkish patrol, killing seven soldiers and wounding three others. It was the region's deadliest attack in more than a decade, since the Sazak assault in 1997; and most recent attack in Turkey since April, 2009 when a remote-controlled bomb set by Kurdish militants killed 10 soldiers in the country's southeast. The last major attack in Tokat was in 2001. The ambush occurred as Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was received in Washington, D.C., by U.S. President Barack Obama and occurred the day before a court was due to consider outlawing Turkey's Democratic Society Party (DTP), the largest Kurdish party in the country. Hüseyin Özer
Hüseyin Özer (born 1949 in Reşadiye, Tokat Province, Turkey) is a Turkish British executive chef and restaurateur, who owns a restaurant chain based in London. Early life Hüseyin Özer was born in 1949, in a village of Reşadiye town in Tokat Province in northern Turkey. His parents separated when he was very young. Unwanted by his parents, Özer was raised by his grandfather. Unable to attend primary school, he taught himself to read and write. Working in his village as a shepherd, Özer was sent at the age of eleven to Ankara to earn money, where he became a street kid. To learn English, he bought books. In 1967, he moved to Istanbul, where he found employment in restaurants as a dish washer. He continued to learn English, paying a tutor to teach him. Following his military service, Hüseyin went to London in 1975 by bus, as he could not afford to fly there. Tokat Province
Tokat Province ( tr, ) is a province in northern Turkey. Its adjacent provinces are Amasya to the northwest, Yozgat to the southwest, Sivas to the southeast, and Ordu to the northeast. Its capital is Tokat, which lies inland of the middle Black Sea region, 422 kilometers from Ankara. Etymology Evliya Çelebi explained the name of the city as Tok-at in return for the satiety of horses because of its rich barley in Turkish etymology. Kurdistan Workers' Party
The Kurdistan Workers' Party or PKK is a Kurdish militant political organization and armed guerrilla movement, which historically operated throughout Kurdistan, but is now primarily based in the mountainous Kurdish-majority regions of southeastern Turkey and northern Iraq. Sivas
Sivas (Latin and Greek: ''Sebastia'', ''Sebastea'', Σεβάστεια, Σεβαστή, ) is a city in central Turkey and the seat of Sivas Province. The city, which lies at an elevation of in the broad valley of the Kızılırmak river, is a moderately-sized trade centre and industrial city, although the economy has traditionally been based on agriculture. Niksar
Niksar, historically known as Neocaesarea (Νεοκαισάρεια), is a city in Tokat Province, Turkey. It was settled by many empires, being once the capital city of the province. Niksar is known as "Çukurova of the North-Anatolia" due to its production of many kinds of fruits and vegetables except citrus fruits. On May 2, 2018, Niksar was included in the World Heritage tentative list.
