Rexona is an Australia, Australian deodorant and antiperspirant brand, owned by British conglomerate Unilever. While marketed under the Rexona name in most countries, it is known as Rexena ( ja, レセナ; ko, 레세나) in Japan and South Korea, Sure in the United Kingdom, Ireland and India, Shield in South Africa, and Degree in the United States and Canada. The Rexona aerosol spray deodorant range are manufactured in Australia. All the other Rexona deodorant types (including roll-ons, etc) are now all manufactured in the Philippines. History Rexona was developed in 1908 by Australian Samuel Fuller Sheffer and his wife, Alice. Unilever took over the Australian company in 1989 and eventually integrated it into its global personal care line-up of brands. The products are available in varying forms including as aerosols, pumps, roll-ons, sticks and creams. Antiperspirant
A deodorant is a substance applied to the body to prevent or mask body odor due to bacterial breakdown of perspiration or vaginal secretions, for example in the armpits, groin, or feet. A subclass of deodorants, called antiperspirants, prevents sweating itself, typically by blocking sweat glands. Antiperspirants are used on a wider range of body parts, at any place where sweat would be inconvenient or unsafe, since unwanted sweating can interfere with comfort, vision, and grip (due to slipping). Other types of deodorant allow sweating but prevent bacterial action on sweat, since human sweat only has a noticeable smell when it is decomposed by bacteria. In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration classifies and regulates most deodorants as cosmetics, but classifies antiperspirants as over-the-counter drugs.
