Rex Kern
Rex William Kern (born May 28, 1949) is a former American football player. He played professional football in the National Football League at defensive back for the Baltimore Colts and Buffalo Bills. In college, Kern was the quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 1968 to 1970; the Buckeyes went undefeated in 1968 and were national champions. Kern was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2007. Early years Born and raised in Lancaster, Ohio, and the son of a barber, Kern was a star three-sport athlete for Lancaster High School and graduated in 1967. In baseball, he was drafted by the Kansas City Athletics, and was offered basketball scholarships to UCLA, North Carolina, and Ohio University. 1971 Baltimore Colts Season
The 1971 Baltimore Colts season was the 19th season for the team in the National Football League. Led by second-year head coach Don McCafferty, the Colts appeared to be on the verge of winning the AFC East again after beating the Miami Dolphins 14–3 in the penultimate game of the regular season. However, the Colts lost the final game of the season at home to the New England Patriots, dropping them to 10–4 and the wild card berth. They lost to the Dolphins in the AFC Championship game. The Baltimore defense gave up a total of 140 points for 14 regular season (10 PPG) & in their four defeats, they lost by 15 points total. Woody Hayes
Wayne Woodrow Hayes (February 14, 1913 – March 12, 1987) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head coach at Denison University (1946–1948), Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (1949–1950), and Ohio State University (1951–1978), compiling a career college football record of 238 wins, 72 losses, and 10 ties. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 1983. Fred Taylor (basketball Coach)
Frederick Rankin Taylor (December 3, 1924 – January 6, 2002) was a college men's basketball coach for The Ohio State University from 1959 to 1976. Prior to that, he played baseball for the Washington Senators. College career After graduating from Lash High School in Zanesville in 1943, Taylor entered the United States Army Air Forces where he served from 1943 to 1946. Despite never having played high school basketball, he became a player at Ohio State and was the starting forward on the 1950 Big Ten Conference championship basketball team. Taylor learned to play basketball while in the Army Air Forces playing under Captain Rowland Wenzel going undefeated. In addition he was Ohio State University's first All-American baseball player. The Ohio Bobcats men's basketball team is an intercollegiate varsity sports program of Ohio University. The team is a member of the Mid-American Conference competing in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). A scholarship is a form of financial aid awarded to students for further education.
