Revolving Door
A revolving door typically consists of three or four doors that hang on a central shaft and rotate around a vertical axis within a cylindrical enclosure. Revolving doors are energy efficient as they, acting as an airlock, prevent drafts, thus decreasing the loss of heating or cooling for the building. Revolving doors were designed to relieve the immense pressure caused by air rushing through high-rise buildings (referred to as stack effect pressure) while at the same time, to allow large numbers of people to pass in and out. "Revolving Door" was a famous negative television commercial made for Republican nominee George H. W. Bush's campaign during the 1988 United States presidential election. Along with the ''Willie Horton'' ("Weekend Passes") commercial, it is considered to have been a major factor in Bush's defeat of Democratic nominee Michael Dukakis. The ad was produced by political consultant Roger Ailes with help from Bush campaign manager Lee Atwater, and first aired on October 5, 1988. "Revolving door syndrome" is a term used in criminology to refer to recidivism; however, in the ad, the implication is that prison sentences were of an inconsequential length. "Revolving Door" is a song by American rap rock band Crazy Town. It was released in August 2001 as the fourth and final single from their debut album ''The Gift of Game''. It was the followup single to their No. 1 hit ''Butterfly''. Whilst failing to chart in the US, the song became a minor hit in several countries, reaching No. 19 in Finland and No. 23 in the UK. Reception Christian Genze from Allmusic stated that whilst "Revolving Door" was not a bad song by any means, it too closely resembled their previous single "Butterfly" to be a real standout. Genze stated both songs feature similar soft guitar loops, smooth beats and a relaxed mood, and that neither song was reflective of Crazy Town's album, ''The Gift of Game'', on which the majority of songs are much heavier. In politics, a revolving door is a situation in which personnel move between roles as legislators and regulators, on one hand, and members of the industries affected by the legislation and regulation, on the other, analogous to the movement of people in a physical revolving door.It also includes the movement of government personnel into lobbying firms working for these industries, and vice versa. In some cases, the roles are performed in sequence, but in certain circumstances they may be performed at the same time.
