Reveille Range
The Reveille Range is the Nye County, Nevada mountain range that is the location of the Reveille Range volcanic field. The highest point is Reveille Peak in the southern part of the range with an elevation of . The range is approximately long and in width and is oriented approximately north south. The Railroad Valley lies to the east and the Reveille Valley to the west. Immediately to the north northeast lies the Pancake Range and the Lunar Crater volcanic field with Lunar Crater National Natural Landmark. The community of Warm Springs and U.S. Route 6 are seven miles west of the north end of the range. Nevada State Route 375, the ''Extraterrestrial Highway'', runs east from Warm Springs through the divide between the Reveilles and the Pancake Range and then south into Railroad Valley past the east side of the range. Nye County, Nevada
Nye County is a county in the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2020 census, the population was 51,591. Its county seat is Tonopah. At , Nye is Nevada's largest county by area and the third-largest county in the contiguous United States, behind Coconino County of Arizona and San Bernardino County of California. Nye County comprises the Pahrump Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Las Vegas-Henderson Combined Statistical Area. In 2010, Nevada's center of population was in southern Nye County, near Yucca Mountain. Railroad Valley
Railroad Valley is one of the Central Nevada Desert Basins in the Tonopah Basin and is about long north-south and up to wide, with some southern areas running southwest to northeast. Description The southern end of the valley begins near Gray Top Mountain (elevation ) and stretches north all the way to Mount Hamilton (elevation ). To the east are the Quinn Canyon, Grant, and White Pine Ranges, while to the west are the Pancake and Reveille Ranges. The Pancake Range is located in east-central Nevada in the United States. The range extends as an irregular sinuous line for approximately with a roughly north-south trend (N 10 E) in Nye and White Pine counties.''Mt. Lunar Crater National Natural Landmark
Lunar Crater National Natural Landmark is a volcanic field landmark located east-northeast of Tonopah in Nye County, in central Nevada. It was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1973. Volcanic features A crater that is thought to have been formed by several volcanic explosions, and is one of two maars in the Lunar Crater volcanic field of the Pancake Range. Astronaut Training In Sept. 1972, the crater was used by NASA to geologically train the Apollo Astronauts in recognizing volcanic features expected at the Apollo 17 landing site. Their field exercises included two rover traverses. Astronauts who would use this training on the Moon included Apollo 16's John Young and Charlie Duke, besides Apollo 17's Gene Cernan and Jack Schmitt. Warm Springs, Nevada
Warm Springs is a former town in the Tonopah Basin in Nye County, Nevada, near the mountain pass which divides the Kawich Range, Kawich and Hot Creek Range, Hot Creek ranges (at ). It is located at the junction of U.S. Route 6 in Nevada, U.S. Route 6 and Nevada State Route 375, State Route 375 (the "Extraterrestrial Highway"), around 50 miles east of Tonopah, Nevada, Tonopah. Only two abandoned buildings remain. History The first white settlement in Warm Springs was in 1866, when it served as a stopover for stagecoaches and other travellers. The post office was in operation from January 1924 through June 1929. In 1947, the springs was purchased by the Fallini brothers and it was reported that Thomas Hurt had been operating the springs for several years. Quinn Canyon Range
The Quinn Canyon Range is a remote group of mountains in northeastern Nye County, and western Lincoln County in central Nevada in the western United States. Adaven is the only settlement in the mountains, now abandoned. It is closely associated with the Grant Range, which connects to it at the mountain pass of Cherry Creek Summit .
