Return To Mayberry
''Return to Mayberry'' is a 1986 American made-for-television romantic comedy film based on the 1960s sitcoms ''The Andy Griffith Show'' and ''Mayberry R.F.D.''. The film premiered on April 13, 1986, on NBC, and was the highest- rated television film of 1986. Sixteen of the original cast members reunited and reprised their roles for the film and its success could have led to additional Mayberry programs, but Griffith was committed to '' Matlock'' (also airing on NBC at the time) for the 1986–87 season. Most of the characters from the old series are revisited. The slightly milquetoast Howard Sprague (Jack Dodson), in an attempt to look younger, is seen in various hues of hair color. Harvey Bullock (writer)
Harvey Bullock (born June 4, 1921 in Oxford, North Carolina – died April 24, 2006) was an American television and film writer and producer. His work with R.S. Allen included episodes for ''The Andy Griffith Show'', ''Hogan's Heroes'', ''Love, American Style'', and ''Alice'', along with the films ''Who's Minding the Mint?'', ''With Six You Get Eggroll'' and ''Girl Happy''. He graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He served with the US Navy in a special operations unit called "Beach Jumpers" during World War II, writing and transmitting false messages over radio in order to deceive the Nazis. After the war, he served stateside in Hawaii. In 1956, he was married to Betty Jane Folker. Together they had four children: Kerry Scarvie, Diana Bullock, Courtney Bullock and Andy Bullock; and three grandchildren: Sean Bullock, Samantha Scarvie and Andrew Scarvie. Gomer ( he, ''Gōmer'', ; el, Γαμὲρ, translit=Gamér) was the eldest son of Japheth (and of the Japhetic line), and father of Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah, according to the "Table of Nations" in the Hebrew Bible (Genesis 10). Gomer Pyle
Gomer Pyle is a fictional character played by Jim Nabors and introduced in the middle of the third season of ''The Andy Griffith Show''. A naïve and gentle auto mechanic, he became a character in the January 1963 episode, ''Man in a Hurry''. Nabors played Pyle for 23 episodes, from 1962 to 1964. After two seasons on ''The Andy Griffith Show'', the character was spun off to ''Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.'' in 1964 which ran until 1970. Character Gomer is a naïve, extremely moral auto mechanic turned United States Marine Corps PFC, from Mayberry, North Carolina. Howard Sprague
Howard Sprague is a fictional character on the CBS television sitcom ''The Andy Griffith Show'', and its spin-off ''Mayberry R.F.D.''. He was played by Jack Dodson from 1966-71. He was characterized by his milquetoast demeanor, moustache, bow ties, and a penchant for philosophy and culture. Howard was a repressed Mother's boy who lived with his overbearing and manipulative mother, played by Mabel Albertson. He appeared as the county clerk during the later color episodes of The Andy Griffith Show (and continued onto Mayberry R.F.D.). A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Romantic comedy (also known as romcom or rom-com) is a subgenre of comedy and slice of life fiction, focusing on lighthearted, humorous plot lines centered on romantic ideas, such as how true love is able to surmount most obstacles.
