Restless (band)
Restless is a British rockabilly band formed in 1978. The group got their name from a song by Carl Perkins. The band performed their first gig in Sudbury in 1980, but the gig was hampered by frontman Mark Harman suffering from stage fright. Their first album, ''Why Don't You...Just Rock!,'' was released on Nervous Records Nervous Records is a UK rockabilly music independent record label. Ipswich
Ipswich () is a port town and borough in Suffolk, England, of which it is the county town. The town is located in East Anglia about away from the mouth of the River Orwell and the North Sea. Ipswich is both on the Great Eastern Main Line railway and the A12 road; it is north-east of London, east-southeast of Cambridge and south of Norwich. Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music. It dates back to the early 1950s in the United States, especially the Southern United States, South. As a genre it blends the sound of Western music (North America), Western musical styles such as country music, country with that of rhythm and blues, leading to what is considered "classic" rock and roll. Some have also described it as a blend of bluegrass music, bluegrass with rock and roll. The term "rockabilly" itself is a portmanteau of "rock" (from "rock 'n' roll") and "hillbilly", the latter a reference to the country music (often called "Hillbilly#Music, hillbilly music" in the 1940s and 1950s) that contributed strongly to the style. Nervous Records
Nervous Records is a UK rockabilly music independent record label. It was formed in 1979 by Roy Williams, a DJ on the UK rock'n'roll scene. Nervous Records is credited by many as the leading record label behind the emergence of the British neo-rockabilly and psychobilly scene in the early 1980s and released many of the earliest records by key British artists of the genre including The Polecats, The Sharks, Frenzy and Restless - as well as leading acts from other European countries including Batmobile (Netherlands) and The Nekromantix (Denmark). Although not a musician himself, Williams produced many of the bands whose music he released. Williams introduced Producer/Engineer Paul “Doc” Stewart to psychobilly. Stewart was already well versed in rock, indie and punk and he took the music in a more modern direction, often co-producing with Williams as documented in the Rockabilly Chronicle. Restless (Carl Perkins Song)
"Restless" is a 1968 song written by Carl Perkins and released as a single on Columbia Records. Background The song was recorded on September 27, 1968, and released as a 45 single, 4-44723, on Columbia, in December, 1968, backed with "11-43", reaching no. 20 on the ''Billboard'' country chart. The recording, produced by Bill Denny and Larry Butler, also appeared on the May, 1969 Columbia LP ''Carl Perkins' Greatest Hits''. The song also appeared on the 1992 Carl Perkins compilation album ''Restless: The Columbia Recordings''. The song became a major hit again in 1991 in a new all-star recording by Mark O'Connor and The New Nashville Cats. Carl Perkins
Carl Lee Perkins (April 9, 1932 – January 19, 1998)#nytimesobit, Pareles. was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. A rockabilly great and pioneer of rock and roll, he began his recording career at the Sun Studio, in Memphis, Tennessee, Memphis, beginning in 1954. Among his best-known songs are "Blue Suede Shoes", "Honey Don't", "Matchbox (song), Matchbox" and "Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby". According to fellow musician Charlie Daniels, "Carl Perkins' songs personified the rockabilly era, and Carl Perkins' sound personifies the rockabilly sound more so than anybody involved in it, because he never changed."#legends, Naylor, p. 118. Sudbury, Suffolk
Sudbury (, ) is a market town in the south west of Suffolk, England, on the River Stour near the Essex border, north-east of London. At the 2011 census, it had a population of 13,063. Stage fright or performance anxiety is the anxiety, fear, or persistent phobia which may be aroused in an individual by the requirement to perform in front of an audience, real or imagined, whether actually or potentially (for example, when performing before a camera).
