Repetto is a French ballet shoe company. It was founded in 1947 by Rose Repetto, after her son, choreographer Roland Petit, would come home from classes complaining of sore feet. Repetto provides ballet shoes for the Opéra National de Paris and many other well-known French ballet companies. , the company had 60 million euros in revenues and employed 340 people. History Rose Repetto created her first ballet shoes for her son in 1947 and soon thereafter opened up her first workshop near the National Opera of Paris. The company gained fame from creating the "Cendrillon" ballerina flat for French ballet dancer and actress Brigitte Bardot's 1956 film '' Et Dieu… créa la femme''. Rose Repetto (1907 – 1984) was an Italian-born French business owner. She established the Repetto ballet shoe company. She was born in Milan. Repetto designed a ballet shoe for her son, the dancer Roland Petit, at her workshop in Paris in 1947. She developed ballet flats for Brigitte Bardot in 1956 for the film '' And God Created Woman''. They were known as Cendrillon, from the French version of ''Cinderella'', and became popular as a fashion shoe. In 1959, she opened a boutique 22 rue de la Paix in Paris. Roland Petit
Roland Petit (13 January 192410 July 2011) was a French ballet company director, choreographer and dancer. He trained at the Paris Opera Ballet school, and became well known for his creative ballets. Life and work The son of shoe designer Rose Repetto, Petit was born in Villemomble, near Paris. He trained at the Paris Opéra Ballet school under Gustave Ricaux and Serge Lifar and began to dance with the corps de ballet in 1940. He founded the Ballets des Champs-Élysées in 1945 and the Ballets de Paris in 1948, at Théâtre Marigny, with Zizi Jeanmaire as star dancer. Petit collaborated with Constant Lambert (''Ballabile'' - 1950), Henri Dutilleux (''Le Loup'' - 1953), Serge Gainsbourg, Yves Saint-Laurent and César Baldaccini and participated in several French and American films.
