Renske Endel (born 13 July 1983, Noord-Scharwoude) is a Dutch former artistic gymnast Artistic gymnastics is a discipline of gymnastics in which athletes perform short routines on different apparatuses. The sport is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG), which designs the Code of Points and regulates .... She won the silver medal on uneven bars at the 2001 World Championships, which was the first World medal won by a Dutch gymnast since 1903. She was unable to compete at the 2004 Olympic Games due to injury and retired shortly afterwards. Endel currently works as a motivational speaker and acrobat at Corpus Acrobatics in Amsterdam. Noord-Scharwoude
Noord-Scharwoude ( West Frisian: ''Noôrd-Skerwou'') is a village in the municipality of Dijk en Waard in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. History The village was first mentioned in 1094 as Bernardeskercha. The current name means "northern forest belonging to Schoorl". Noord (north) was added to distinguish from Zuid-Scharwoude. Noord-Scharwoude developed in the 11th century as a linear settlement on a dike. The Catholic John the Baptist church is a three aisled basilica-like church built between 1905 and 1906 as a replacement of an 1856 church. Noord-Scharwoude was home to 634 people in 1840. It was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1941, when the new municipality Langedijk was created. There used to be a tram line to Alkmaar which was used to transport vegetables to the auction in the village. In 1934, the tram line closed and was reconstructed as a road. World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The Artistic Gymnastics World Championships are the world championships for artistic gymnastics governed by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). The first edition of the championships was held in 1903, exclusively for male gymnasts. Since the tenth edition of the tournament, in 1934, women's events are held together with men's events. The FIG was founded in 1881 and was originally entitled FEG (Fédération Européenne de Gymnastique), but changed its name in 1921, becoming the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG); this name change roughly correlates with the actual naming of the World Championships. European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The European Women's Gymnastics Championships are an artistic championships for female gymnasts from European countries organised by the European Union of Gymnastics. They are held annually, though rotate between two different formats. History Originally held biannually in odd-numbered years, the championships moved to even-numbered years in 1990.
