Renegades Of The West
''Renegades of the West'' is a 1932 American Western film directed by Casey Robinson and written by Albert S. Le Vino. The film stars Tom Keene, Roscoe Ates, Betty Furness, James Mason and Carl Miller. The film was released on November 25, 1932, by RKO Pictures. Plot After learning of his father's killer in prison, Tom Bagby goes undercover to prove Curly Bogard, whom he believes did it, is guilty. Tom gets a job on Curly's ranch and tries to get evidence against him, but his plans are foiled when the plot twists and his cellmate comes and exposes his identity. Casey Robinson
Kenneth Casey Robinson (October 17, 1903 – December 6, 1979) was an American producer and director of mostly B movies and a screenwriter responsible for some of Bette Davis' most revered films. Film critic Richard Corliss once described him as "the master of the art – or craft – of adaptation." Early life and Hollywood career Born in Logan, Utah, the son of a Brigham Young University music/drama instructor, Robinson graduated from Cornell University at the age of 19 and briefly taught English before turning to journalism. In 1927, he began his Hollywood career writing the titles for silent movies. He graduated to directing in the early 1930s, but after six films he abandoned that field in order to concentrate on writing. He starred in films such as ''Regeneration'' and '' Monkey Business''. Biography After following a business career for some years, he gave it up to go onto the stage in 1907 and later made his entry into films as the redemptive hero of Raoul Walsh's 1915 silent gangster film ''Regeneration''. He appeared mostly in silent films and is probably best known today for his role as gangster Joe Helton in '' Monkey Business'' (1931) starring the Marx Brothers. RKO Radio Pictures Inc., commonly known as RKO Pictures or simply RKO, was an American film production and distribution company, one of the "Big Five" film studios of Hollywood's Golden Age. The business was formed after the Keith-Albee-Orpheum (KAO) theater chain and Joseph P. Kennedy's Film Booking Offices of America (FBO) studio were brought together under the control of the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) in October 1928. RCA chief David Sarnoff engineered the merger to create a market for the company's sound-on-film technology, RCA Photophone, and in early 1929 production began under the RKO name (an abbreviation of Radio-Keith-Orpheum). Jack Pennick
Ronald Jack Pennick (December 7, 1895 – August 16, 1964) was an American film actor. After working as a gold miner as a young man, serving as a US Marine, he would go on to appear in more than 140 films between 1926 and 1962. Pennick was a leading member to in the informal John Ford Stock Company, appearing in dozens of the director's films. Pennick also drilled the military extras in John Wayne's '' The Alamo'' (1960). Biography Pennick was born in Portland, Oregon, the son of gold miner Albert R. and Bessie (Murray) Pennick. He and his first wife, Grechin, had two children by the time he was twenty. He had a third child with his second wife, Nona Lorraine. Pennick joined the United States Marine Corps serving in China and World War I.
