Renato Polselli
Renato Polselli (1922–2006) was an Italian film director and writer. Born in Arce, Lazio on 26 February 1922, Polselli began directing films in Italy in the early 1950s. He is best known for directing and writing the film ''The Vampire and the Ballerina''. Polselli's film work since the 1970s was sporadic, and included work on horror film productions that remained unfinished. His later film works were often pornography made with his frequent collaborator Bruno Vanni. Polselli died in Italy on 1 October 2006. Style In his book on Italian horror film directors, Louis Paul described Polselli as being "a bit of a mystery" due to the rarity of films surrounding his work and that his work in horror films were "some of the most original, hallucinatory and sleazy, low-budget productions in the genre". Arce (Neapolitan: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of Frosinone, in the region of Lazio, Italy. it is an agricultural centre located on a hill overlooking the Via Casilina, in the Latin Valley and in the middle valley of the Liri. ''Delirium'' ( it, Delirio Caldo) is a 1972 Italian thriller film directed by Renato Polselli. Production The English-language dub version of the film differs greatly from the Italian version of the film. In the Italian version, there is no mention of the Vietnam war trauma that instigates the killing spree. Most of the film was shot at Isarco Ravaioli's own home. Release ''Delirium'' was first released in 1972. The film was released as by Empire Video with a 90-minute running time, in English with Dutch subtitles. Reception From retrospective reviews, Louis Paul, in his book on Italian Horror Film Directors described ''Delirium'' as one that "seems to have been entirely forgotten" and as a "savage film" that will "likely leave some viewers wondering whether it would have been to leave it that way."
