''Mania'' is a 1974 Italian film produced, written and directed by Renato Polselli. Production The film was developed under the working title ''Terrore mania''. It was a low-budget affair with no well-known actors cast. Lead Ettore Elio Aricò, who had appeared in a previous film of Polselli's, provided most of the money for the film himself on the condition that he was cast as the protagonist . Renato Polselli
Renato Polselli (1922–2006) was an Italian film director and writer. Born in Arce, Lazio on 26 February 1922, Polselli began directing films in Italy in the early 1950s. He is best known for directing and writing the film ''The Vampire and the Ballerina''. Polselli's film work since the 1970s was sporadic, and included work on horror film productions that remained unfinished. His later film works were often pornography made with his frequent collaborator Bruno Vanni. Polselli died in Italy on 1 October 2006. Style In his book on Italian horror film directors, Louis Paul described Polselli as being "a bit of a mystery" due to the rarity of films surrounding his work and that his work in horror films were "some of the most original, hallucinatory and sleazy, low-budget productions in the genre". Isacco Ravaioli, best known as Isarco Ravaioli (3 March 1933 – 15 February 2004), was an Italian film actor. Life and career Born in Ravenna, Ravaioli obtained a diploma of teaching in his hometown, and he started working as a primary school teacher. Later, driven by his passion for cinema, he moved to Rome where he first attended the drama school held by Peter Scharoff, soon obtaining his first film roles, and then enrolled the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, graduating in 1957. Ravaioli appeared in dozens of films until his retirement in the 1980s, mainly of adventure and peplum genre.
