Relay Peak is a 10,338-foot-elevation mountain summit located in Washoe County, Nevada, United States. Description Relay Peak is set five miles north of Lake Tahoe in the Mount Rose Wilderness, on land managed by the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. It is part of the Carson Range which is a subset of the Sierra Nevada. It is situated southwest of Mount Rose and north of Incline Village. Topographic relief is modest as the summit rises above Ginny Lake in one mile, and above Incline Lake in two miles. The Tahoe Rim Trail traverses the summit of the peak, providing an approach option, and the summit represents the highest point anywhere along the entire 170 mile trail. This landform's toponym was officially adopted in 1990 by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names. Köppen Climate Classification
The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. It was first published by German-Russian climatologist Wladimir Köppen (1846–1940) in 1884, with several later modifications by Köppen, notably in 1918 and 1936. Humboldt–Toiyabe National Forest
The Humboldt–Toiyabe National Forest (HTNF) is the principal U.S. National Forest in the U.S. state of Nevada, and has a smaller portion in Eastern California. With an area of , it is the largest U.S. National Forest outside of Alaska. History The lands now part of Humboldt-Toiyabe have been administratively reorganized many times, and include parts of several defunct national forests. The oldest of these is Ruby Mountains National Forest, established on May 3, 1906. In 1908, it was combined with Independence National Forest to form Humboldt National Forest.
