is a Japanese ''shōjo'' manga writer and illustrator. She is noted for her works of science fiction and her art style, and is also known for her illustrations of tarot cards called the ''Miracle Tarot'' deck. Career She made her professional debut in 1983 with ''Sansaro Monogatari'' in ''LaLa'', and has written primarily for the publisher Hakusensha since. Japan Media Arts Festival
The Japan Media Arts Festival is an annual festival held since 1997 by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs. The festival begins with an open competition and culminates with the awarding of several prizes and an exhibition. Based on judging by a jury of artistic peers, awards are given in four categories: Art (formerly called Non-Interactive Digital Art), Entertainment (formerly called Interactive Art; including video games and websites), animation, and manga. Within each category, one Grand Prize, four Excellence Prizes, and (since 2002) one Encouragement Prize are awarded. Other outstanding works, are selected by the Jury as Jury Selections. CMX Manga
CMX was an imprint of DC Comics, a division of Warner Bros. Entertainment. It was DC's line of manga translations. CMX was known for its censored release of ''Tenjho Tenge'' and the print version of Fred Gallagher's ''Megatokyo'' web manga series. Controversy One of CMX's initial launches was a title variously known as ''Tenjo Tenge'', ''Tenjho Tenge'', and ''Ten Ten''. When CMX released ''Tenjho Tenge'', many fans were livid that title had been edited contentwise and changed graphically to appeal to a "larger demographic"—in other words, edited to be acceptable to bookstores without shrinkwrap. The is one of Japan's major manga awards, and is sponsored by Shogakukan, Shogakukan Publishing. It has been awarded annually for serialized manga and features candidates from a number of publishers. It is the oldest manga award in Japan, being given since 1955.
