Rehoboth (Bible)
Rehoboth ( he, רְחוֹבוֹת, ''Reḥovot''; lit. ''broad places'') is the name of three biblical places: * "A well in Gerar dug by Isaac (), supposed to be in Wady er-Ruheibeh, about 20 miles south of Beersheba." Isaac gave it the name Rehoboth, which means "open spaces". Isaac's servants had dug two wells and the herdsmen of Gerar quarrelled because of these two wells with Isaac's herdsmens. So when they dug the third well and there were no quarrels Isaac named it Rehoboth saying "Now the Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the land." * An ancient city from which came Saul, an Edomite king (; ), "Rehoboth by the river". Since "the River" in the Bible generally is used about Euphrates, scholars have suggested either of two sites near the junction of the Khabur River and the Euphrates. Rehoboth is an unincorporated community in southern Clayton Township, Perry County, Ohio, United States. Rehoboth is located along State Route 345, a short distance north (2 miles) of the county seat of New Lexington, and its ZIP code of 43764 is New Lexington's ZIP code. John and Eli Gardner platted Rehoboth in 1815. Expecting to see a new county created in the area, they included a public square and space for a courthouse in their plat. Rehoboth Bay is a body of water in Sussex County, Delaware. It is connected to the Broadkill River by the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal. It is part of Delaware's inland bay system, along with Little Assawoman Bay and Indian River Bay. Of Delaware's Inland Bays, both Rehoboth Bay and Little Assawoman Bay are barbuilt estuaries, while Indian River Bay is a drowned river valley. Rehoboth Bay is the northernmost of Delaware's inland bays. Depth is generally shallow, less than 6 to 7 feet below Mean Lower Low Water. Surface area of the bay is approximately 13 square miles. Rehoboth Bay receives fresh water discharges from a number of small creeks along the bay, including White Oak Creek, Love Creek, Herring Creek, and Guinea Creek.
