Regis Prograis
Regis Prograis ( ; born January 24, 1989) is an American professional boxer. He has held the WBC super lightweight title since November 2022, and previously the WBA super lightweight title in 2019. As of February 2021, he is ranked as the world's third best active light welterweight by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, second best by '' The Ring'' magazine and fourth best by BoxRec. Prograis currently has an 84.6% knockout-to-win ratio. Prograis chose his nickname, "Rougarou", Louisiana French for 'werewolf', to pay homage to his grandfather, who is of Native American descent. Amateur career Prograis is of Louisiana Creole descent and originally from New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina forced him to relocate in 2005 to Houston, Texas, where he began training at Savannah Boxing Club alongside Evander Holyfield which was a key factor in motivating him to take boxing seriously. Light welterweight, also known as junior welterweight or super lightweight, is a weight class in combat sports. Boxing Professional boxing In professional boxing, light welterweight is contested between the lightweight and welterweight divisions, in which boxers weigh above 61.2kg or 135 pounds and up to 63.5 kg or 140 pounds. Keith Fitzgerald Thurman Jr. (born November 23, 1988) is an American professional boxer. He is a former unified welterweight world champion, having held the WBA title from 2015 to 2019 (promoted to Super champion in 2017), and the WBC title from 2017 to 2018. As of July 2022, he is ranked as the world's fifth best active welterweight by BoxRec. Amateur career Thurman's first amateur fight was in 1997. Ivan Redkach (born 11 March 1986) is a Ukrainian professional boxer. Professional career On 7 January 2011 Redkach fought and beat Jaime Orrantia by third-round knockout in Fairfield, California. On 1 June 2019, he scored one of the biggest wins of his career, over former world champion Devon Alexander. In the sixth round, Redkach connected with a left-hand to floor Alexander for the first time in the bout. He managed to drop Alexander two more times in the round, with the third knockdown also being the last of the fight, forcing the referee to stop the fight. The Dignity Health Sports Park is a tennis center in Carson, Los Angeles, California, United States. It is adjacent to the soccer stadium of the same name, which is home to the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer (MLS).
