Regional Rail Link
The Regional Rail Link (RRL) was a project to build a 47.5 kilometre length of railway through the western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, the main aim of which was to separate regional V/Line Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong services from the electrified Melbourne suburban services, thereby increasing rail capacity and reliability. The project involved the building of an extra pair of tracks from Southern Cross station to Sunshine, parallel to the Western line, and a new double-track line from Deer Park, which joins with the Warrnambool line west of Werribee, near the site of the former Manor railway station. New stations were built at Tarneit and Wyndham Vale, while West Footscray and Sunshine stations were rebuilt. Deer Park–West Werribee Railway Line
The Deer Park–West Werribee railway line is a non-electrified rail line on the western fringes of the metropolitan area of Melbourne, Victoria. The line carries the Geelong-Melbourne rail service operated by the state regional rail provider V/Line. The line also provides commuter service for the suburban stations of Tarneit and Wyndham Vale. It was constructed as part of the Regional Rail Link project between June 2012 and October 2014 and opened on 21 June 2015, which separated most western V/Line regional services from metropolitan trains. Avalon Airport
Avalon Airport is an international airport located in Avalon in the City of Greater Geelong in Victoria, Australia. While located outside the Melbourne metropolitan area, it is the second busiest of the four airports serving the state capital in passenger traffic. PTV Network Development Plan
The Network Development Plan Metropolitan Rail is a long-term development plan for the rail network of Melbourne, Australia. It was carried out by Public Transport Victoria (PTV) and released to the public on 27 March 2013 however, a revised version was leaked in 2019 making a few changes to the plan. The plan will eventually affect metropolitan and regional rail, trams and buses. However, only the metropolitan rail aspect of the plan has been finalised and released to the public from PTV. The Regional Network Development Plan however was passed onto the government department Transport for Victoria, and which then was released in 2016. The primary aim of the metro rail plan is to improve the efficiency, reliability and patronage of Melbourne's train network.
