West Sulawesi
West Sulawesi ( id, Sulawesi Barat) is a province of Indonesia. It is located on the western side of Sulawesi island. It covers an area of 16,787.18 km2, and its capital is Mamuju. The 2010 Census recorded a population of 1,158,651, while that in 2020 recorded 1,419,228. The province was established in 2004, having been split off from South Sulawesi. Geography The province is on the island of Sulawesi (formerly Celebes) and includes the regencies (''kabupaten'') of Polewali Mandar, Mamasa, Majene, Mamuju, Central Mamuju and Pasangkayu (formerly called North Mamuju), which used to be part of South Sulawesi. A regency ( id, kabupaten), sometimes incorrectly referred to as a district, is an administrative division of Indonesia, directly under a province and on the same level with city (''kota''). Regencies is divided into districts (''Kecamatan'', ''Distrik'' in Papua region, or ''Kapanewon'' in the Special Region of Yogyakarta). Majene
Majene is the administrative capital of Majene Regency and it is located in the Indonesian province of West Sulawesi. People The population at the 2020 Census was 73,883 people, 52% of which are female and 48% of which are male. The town is divided into two districts (''kecamatan''): Banggae and Banggae Timur. In 2009, the average population density for Banggae was 1,514 people per square kilometre while the density for East Banggae was 834 people per square kilometre. 46.7% of the population consists of individuals under the age of 20, while 76.3% of the population consists of individuals under the age of 40. Polewali Mandar is one of the five regencies in West Sulawesi province of Indonesia. It borders on the regencies of Mamasa Regency, Mamasa in the North, Majene Regency, Majene in the West and Pinrang Regency, Pinrang regency of South Sulawesi in the East. Mamasa Regency ( id, Kabupaten Mamasa) is one of the six regencies that make up the West Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, on the island of Sulawesi. It covers a land area of 3,005.88 km2. Mamuju Regency is a regency ( id, kabupaten Mamuju) of West Sulawesi province, Indonesia. The regency capital is at Karema, while Mamuju town is the capital of West Sulawesi. The population of the regency was 336,879 at the 2010 Census, but it was substantially reduced by the creation of the new Central Mamuju Regency which was cut out of it in 2012. Mamuju (city)
Mamuju is the capital of the Indonesian province of West Sulawesi. The town was formerly part of South Sulawesi province. Education Education in Mamuju extends up to SMA III (Year 12) and people from surrounding areas (especially the area of Kalumpang) will travel to Mamuju to further their education. Students who wish to pursue a tertiary education must travel to larger towns like Makassar. Agriculture Agriculture in this area includes jackfruit, rambutan, durian, rice, and bananas.
