Refugee Studies Centre
The Refugee Studies Centre (RSC) was established in 1982, as part of the University of Oxford's Department of International Development (Queen Elizabeth House), in order to promote the understanding of the causes and consequences of forced migration and to improve the lives of some of the world's most marginalised people. Its philosophy is to "''combine world-class academic research with a commitment to improving the lives and situations for some of the world's most disadvantaged people''". Overview The RSC is regarded as one of the world's leading centres for multidisciplinary research and teaching on the causes and consequences of forced migration. Bodleian Social Science Library
The Bodleian Social Science Library, Oxford (SSL) is the main teaching social sciences lending library at the University of Oxford, England. The library supports taught programmes for both undergraduates and postgraduates, and houses a dedicated research collection part of which contains legal deposit material out-housed from the Bodleian Library. The Social Science Library uses the Library of Congress classification scheme. The library is located in the Manor Road Building on Manor Road, Oxford. Dawn Chatty, (born October 16, 1947) is an American Emerita Professor of Anthropology and Forced Migration, who specialises in the Middle East, nomadic pastoral tribes, and refugees. From 2010 to 2015, she was Professor of Anthropology and Forced Migration at the University of Oxford and from 2011 to 2014, Director of the Refugee Studies Centre. Barbara Elaine Harrell-Bond (née Moir) (7 November 1932 – 11 July 2018) was a British American social scientist in the field of refugee studies. Early life and education Barbara Elaine Moir was born on 7 November 1932, daughter of postman Elmer Edwin Moir and nurse Irene (née Belden), and raised in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
