Redditch Borough Council
Redditch Borough Council is the local authority covering the non-metropolitan district centred on the town of Redditch. History The town of Redditch was governed by a local board of health from 1858 until 1894, when such local boards were reformed to become urban district councils. The urban district in turn was abolished in 1974 and replaced by a non-metropolitan district council covering the same area as the former urban district, but with different powers and responsibilities. The Redditch district was awarded borough status on 15 May 1980, changing the council's name to Redditch Borough Council and allowing the chair of the council to take the title of mayor. Redditch
Redditch is a town, and local government district, in north-east Worcestershire, England, approximately south of Birmingham. The district has a population of 85,000 as of 2019. In the 19th century, it became the international centre for the needle and fishing tackle industry. At one point, 90% of the world's needles were manufactured in the town and its neighbourhoods. In the 1960s, it became a model for modern new town planning. History The first recorded mention of Redditch (''Red-Ditch'', thought to be a reference to the red clay of the nearby River Arrow) is in 1348, the year of the outbreak of the Black Death. Webheath
Webheath is a district of Redditch, in Worcestershire, England. The district neighbours Batchley, Headless Cross and the village of Callow Hill. It is also near Feckenham and Astwood Bank. Webheath used to be a village but has recently been swallowed up and now comes under the town of Redditch. Residents of Webheath have recently (2012) been alarmed by proposals to build hundreds of extra houses on nearby greenbelt land. The local infrastructure around schools and roads is of great concern. Access to the proposed site is currently very restricted and is only by minor roads. Webheath has one Post Office, 2 pubs, The Rose and Crown and The Foxlydiate Inn which is also a Premier Hotel. Redditch is a town and local government district in north-east Worcestershire, England. The town is divided into separate districts. All street-name signs in Redditch have the street name in white lettering on a blue background and the district name in black lettering on a white background at the bottom of the sign. Feckenham
Feckenham is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Redditch in Worcestershire, England. It lies some south-west of the town of Redditch and some east of the city of Worcester. It had a population of 670 in the 2001 census and its immediate area is the location of notable royal manors that cover over 1,000 years of English history documented in many royal charters and Acts of Parliament. Astwood Bank is a district within Redditch. Astwood Bank is near the Warwickshire - Worcestershire border, near villages such as Studley, Sambourne, Callow Hill, Feckenham, and Cookhill.
