Rector School District is a public school district based in Rector, Arkansas, United States. The school district encompasses of land, including portions of Clay County and Greene County serving the communities of Rector and Greenway. The Rector School District was previously known as the Clay County Central School District from its founding in 1984 until 2000. The district proves comprehensive education for more than 600 pre-kindergarten through grade 12 students and is accredited by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). Greenway is a city in eastern Clay County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 209 at the 2010 census. History In 1876, W.V. Turner, a physician, established a post office known as "Clayville" (sometimes called "Hamburg") in what is now Greenway. The name was changed to "Greenway" when a railroad line (eventually part of the St. Louis Southwestern system) was constructed through the community and a depot was built. It is one of three public high schools located in Clay County and serves the communities of Rector, Piggott, Greenway, Lafe, and Corning. It is the sole high school of the Rector School District. Greene County, Arkansas
Greene County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 42,090. The county seat is Paragould, which sits atop Crowley's Ridge. Greene County is included in Jonesboro–Paragould Combined Statistical Area. History The first settler in the area was Benjamin Crowley, who arrived from Kentucky in 1821 and made his home about west of Paragould. Greene County was formed on 5 November 1833 out of portions of Lawrence County and originally contained parts of present Clay and Craighead counties. The county was named for Revolutionary War hero Nathanael Greene. The first county seat was in Benjamin Crowley's home.
