Realph Norland
Realph Immanuel Ottesen Norland (30 August 1903 – 5 October 1963) was a Norwegian newspaper editor and politician for the Conservative Party, best known as editor-in-chief of '' Tønsbergs Blad''. Career He was born in Bergen to pharmacist J. Norland. His father and his brother, Andreas Norland, were both active in the Conservative Party. Norland took the examen artium in 1921 and the cand.jur. degree in 1925. In 1924 he was a board member of the Norwegian Students' Society, and in 1925 he chaired the Oslo Conservative Students' association. He soon became involved in politics. From 1926 to 1932 he was a secretary in Fedrelandslaget. He then joined the Conservative Party, and was the secretary for its national board from 1933 to 1940. After World War II he helped with rebuilding the party, which had been forbidden for the last five years, during the German occupation of Norway. Vestfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in Eastern Norway. In 2020 the county became part of the much larger county of Vestfold og Telemark. Located on the western shore of the Oslofjord, it bordered the previous Buskerud and Telemark counties. Fatherland League (Norway)
The Fatherland League ( no, Fedrelandslaget) was a Norwegian right-wing, anti-communist political organisation in the interwar period. Founded in 1925, the movement aimed to unite all centre-to-right forces against the rise of the revolutionary Marxist labour movement. At its peak of popular support and political influence around 1930 it was the single largest mass movement ever organised on the political right in Norway, with an estimated 100,000 members. The movement began to decline through the 1930s, followed by some unsuccessful attempts to gain direct influence as a political party. The Fatherland League was banned and dissolved after the German occupation of Norway in 1940.
