Real Vigo Sporting
Real Vigo Sporting Club, was a Spanish football club based in Vigo, Galicia, founded in 1905. Background Vigo was one of the cities through which football entered the Iberian Peninsula, thanks to British sailors and workers. The first demonstrations of the sport were made by the team of the British company Electric Telegraph Company, which was installing the telegraph cable between the islands and Vigo, to connect with Lisbon from there. This team was called the Exiles Football Club and played several matches against British merchant and military crews passing through the Port of Vigo. The first mixed teams between Galicians and the British were soon created, such as Petit FC, who in 1905 beat the Exiles for the first time. Campo De Coia
Campo de Coia () was a sporting venue in Coia, Vigo, Spain, which was the home ground of Celta Vigo, and its predecessor Vigo Sporting Club, between 9 February 1908 and December 1928. On 14 May 1922, it hosted the 1922 Copa del Rey Final between FC Barcelona and Real Unión which FC Barcelona easily won with 5–1. The last match ever played at Coia was the first-leg of the quarter-finals of the Copa de España, on December 9, 1928, against Real Sociedad. Which ended in a 2–1 win for the local team. They would go on to lose the return leg 3–0 in San Sebastián. The site is now occupied by a Lidl supermarket, residential housing and a park. Joaquín Yarza
Joaquín Yarza Ormazábal, also known as Quincho Yarza (1881 - 1972), was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder for Madrid FC. Along with his brother Manuel, he was a member of the Madrid FC side that won the Copa del Rey four times in a row, between 1905 and 1908, although Joaquín only participated in the first three, leaving the club in 1907 to join Sporting de Vigo. Quincho helped Sporting reach their first-ever final in 1908, in which the Yarza brothers were rivals, as Manuel stayed at Madrid. Quincho was a versatile footballer, playing in defense, midfield and attack. Outside of football, he served in the Spanish Navy, reaching the rank of captain, and dedicated himself to the naval industry in Vigo, creating, among other companies, the shipyard Construcciones Navales Yarza. Pedro Martínez Pinilla (25 October 1895 – January 1982) was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward for Celta de Vigo. Pinilla had the honor of playing in the first official match in the history of Celta, scoring the opening goal in a 2–0 win over Unión Sporting Club on 7 October of 1923. He also played for the Galicia national team between 1922 and 1923. José Chiarroni
José Chiarroni Pazos (6 January 1898 - 10 March 1944) was a Spanish footballer of the 1920s who played as a center-forward. Club career Born in Vigo, Galicia, he began playing football at his hometown club Real Vigo Sporting in 1914, and he helped Sporting to win five Galician Championships in 1913-14, 1916-17, 1918-19, 1919-20 and 1922-23. He remained there until Sporting was merged with Fortuna de Vigo in 1923, to form Celta de Vigo. The Celta presentation match was held on 14 September 1923 between an A and a B team formed with the players from the club, taking advantage of the large team available that they had, however, both Chiarroni and Ramón González were absent from it. José Hermida Losada, better known as Pepe Hermida (12 August 1897 - 11 August 1970), was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder for Celta de Vigo. He was part of the first-ever team fielded by Celta de Vigo in 1923. He also played for the Galicia national team between 1922 and 1923. Ramón González Figueroa (16 February 1898 – 4 November 1977) was a Spanish footballer who played as a centre forward. He was a member of the Spanish squad that competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics, but did not make any appearances. Club career Born in Vigo, Galicia, he began playing football at his hometown club Deportivo Fabril in 1914, the same year the club was created. At Fabril he stood out for his goal-scoring instinct, which earned him a move to Real Club Coruña in 1917. After one season he joined Real Vigo Sporting in 1918, where he was pivotal in Sporting's back-to-back Galician Championship titles in 1918–19 and 1919–20, and one more in 1922–23.
