Real Life (TV Program)
''Real Life'' was an Australian current affairs television program that aired on the Seven Network from 20 January 1992 to 1 December 1994. Its format was similar to other tabloid current affairs shows airing at the time, these being ''A Current Affair'' and '' Hinch'', which had recently been axed by the Seven Network and picked up by Network Ten. It was mainly presented by Stan Grant and the reporters included former Network Ten newsreader Eric Walters and Edwina Gatenby. While generally not being as successful as its Nine competitor, it was popular enough for Nine to install Ray Martin as the host of ''A Current Affair'' in 1994 and it did win the Logie award for Most Popular Current Affairs Program in that year. Current Affairs (news Format)
Current affairs is a genre of broadcast journalism in which major news stories are discussed at length in a timely manner. This differs from regular news broadcasts that place emphasis on news reports presented for simple presentation as soon as possible, often with a minimum of analysis. It is also different from the news magazine show format in that the events are discussed immediately. The Logie Awards (officially the TV Week Logie Awards; colloquially known as The Logies) is an annual gathering to celebrate Australian television, sponsored and organised by the magazine ''TV Week''. The first ceremony was held in 1959 as the TV Week Awards. Awards are presented in twenty categories, representing both public and industry voted prizes. The Gold Logie is the most prestigious award and the industry's highest honour; it's awarded to the ''Most Popular Personality on Australian Television'' for the previous year. Raymond George Martin Order of Australia, AM (né Grace, 20 December 1944) is an Australian television journalist and entertainment personality. Eric Walters (4 July 1937 – 18 August 2010) was an Australian journalist, media trainer and former television presenter. He was best known for his long-running stint as early morning anchor for the Nine Network, both on the ''Today'' and '' National Nine Early Morning News''. Career Walters joined Channel 7 Perth in 1961, aged 24, as a reporter and presenter. In the 1970s, Walters worked at TEN-10 Sydney as a newsreader on ''Eyewitness News''. He joined the Nine Network in 1982 as newsreader and inaugural team member for its newly launched ''Today''. He continued as national morning anchor with Nine until 1990 when he returned to Network Ten to again present its 6:00pm newscast in Sydney. Stan Grant (born 30 September 1963) is an Australian journalist, writer and radio and television presenter, since the 1990s. He has written and spoken on Indigenous issues and his Aboriginal identity. He is a Wiradjuri man. Early years Grant was born on 30 September 1963 in Griffith, New South Wales, the son of Stan Grant Sr, an elder of the Wiradjuri people and Betty Grant (nee Cameron), born near Coonabarabran, the daughter of a white woman and an Kamilaroi Aboriginal man.
