Reach For The Top
''Reach for the Top'' (also known simply as ''Reach'') is a Canadian academic quiz competition for high school students. In the past, it has also been a game show nationally broadcast on the CBC. Matches are currently aired online through Reach for the Top's official YouTube channel. Teams qualify for national rounds through several stages of non-televised tournaments held at high schools throughout Canada during the year which are known as Schoolreach. History The televised ''Reach for the Top'' series was first shown on CBC Television affiliate CBUT in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1961. It was based on the BBC programme '' Top of the Form''. In that first year, a team from three high schools in Burnaby, British ColumbiaFred Affleck, Robert French, Lynne Mader and Marilyn defeated every other team and took all the prizes. Jan Tennant
Jan Tennant (born 1937) is a Canadian television journalist. Early life Tennant was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1937, growing up in the High Park North neighbourhood, attended Runnymede Public School and Humberside Collegiate Institute, and then attended the University of Toronto. Teaching She graduated with a degree with Physical Education and Health and began teaching at Queen Elizabeth Junior High in Port Credit, Ontario (1960), Switzerland (1961–62), then obtained a Type A Certificate in Physical and Health Education, and Type B in English and French at the Ontario College of Education (1962–63) before resuming teaching at Castle Frank High School in Toronto until 1965. TVOKids
TVOkids (short for TVOntariokids and stylized as tvokids) is the brand for most of the children's programming aired by TVOntario (TVO) in Canada. It was launched on April 1, 1994 and runs from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily. The brand also operates two 24-hour online live streams, one which features regular TVOkids programming (which is simulcast from broadcast television during operating hours), and another dedicated to its original series ''PAW Patrol''. Nicole Stamp is a Canadian television host, director, actor, filmmaker, playwright, and voice actress. Career Stamp works as a host, producer, and director, having started her career at TVOntario, where she co-hosted TVOntario's afternoon block, ''The SPACE'', from 2003 to 2007. CFPL-DT (channel 10) is a television station in London, Ontario, Canada, part of the CTV 2 system. It is owned and operated by Bell Media alongside Kitchener-based CTV station CKCO-DT, channel 13 (although the two stations maintain separate operations). Bill Guest (1928-1985) was best known as quizmaster of the Winnipeg edition of ''Reach for the Top'' from 1962–1985 and quizmaster of the national finals between 1969 and 1985 when the show aired on CBC Television. Bill began his broadcasting career in 1945 at Port Arthur, Ontario radio station CKPR. In 1948 Bill moved to Winnipeg radio station CKRC, which was part of CBC Radio's secondary Dominion Network. There, he hosted several programs, including ''Guest in the House'', ''Farmer Fiddlers'', ''Pick the Hits'', and the ''Eddy Arnold Show''. Shelagh Rogers, OC, is a Canadian broadcast journalist based in British Columbia. She is the host and producer of CBC Radio One's '' The Next Chapter'', and former chancellor of the University of Victoria. Background Rogers grew up in Ottawa, Ontario.
