Soulhead
Soulhead (known as SOULHEAD in Japan) is a Japanese urban contemporary/ R&B duo consisting of sisters Yoshika Sawayama (よしか) and Tsugumi Sawayama (つぐみ). Both were born in Hokkaidō; Yoshika was born on July 20, 1978 and Tsugumi was born on January 25, 1981. Since their debut, they have worked with several well-known artists, including Sowelu, Koda Kumi, Crystal Kay and Ken Hirai. Biography Before they assumed the name Soulhead, Yoshika and Tsugumi were known as Batti Baas. ''You can do that'' (sometime stylized as ''YOU CAN DO THAT'') is Soulhead's eighth single. It was released on January 21, 2004 and contained two new songs. It charted at #36 on Oricon and was their last single released for their album ''Braided.'' Both the a-side and the b-side made it to the corresponding album. Information Both songs were written by Soulhead, arranged by both Soulhead and Octopussy and are R&B. ''You can do that'' is about continuing on, despite some things in life trying to pull you down. ''words of love'' is about loving someone, even when they're gone. "No Way" is the ninth single by Japanese female duo Soulhead, released on March 24, 2004. The single charted low on Oricon at number 50 for the daily ranking, before falling off the charts. Information Keeping up with their signature, "No Way" was also released on both CD and vinyl. ''No Way'' was a smooth R&B track, while the b-side, ''D.O.G,'' was hip-hop-inspired. Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez (born July 5, 1970), also sometimes known as K-Dope, is an American record producer and disc jockey. He is one half of the classic house music Masters at Work musical production team with Little Louie Vega; and also released the hit " The Bomb! (These Sounds Fall into My Mind)" as The Bucketheads. He has been referred to as one of the most prolific artists of the modern music age. Biography Gonzalez started his DJ career in 1985 organizing neighborhood block parties in his home of Brooklyn, New York, with his then musical partner, Mike Delgado. Under the Masters at Work moniker, the parties became quite successful and attracted Todd Terry who later borrowed the group's name for two record releases. Terry returned the favor at a later date when he loaned Gonzalez a drum machine, which began his interest in producing beats. Gota Yashiki
is a Japanese musician, both an independent acid jazz artist and drum/bass player, as a member of the band Simply Red. Biography He was born in Kyoto, Japan, on 26 February 1962, where at a young age he learned how to play traditional Japanese drums. This interest in drumming propelled him into the music scene, and he moved to Tokyo in 1982 to join a reggae/dub band that became known as Mute Beat. Together with Mute Beat band member Kazufumi Kodama he worked on various projects and formed the duo Kodama & Gota. From 1986 on, Gota entered the European music scene. After spending some time back in Tokyo, he returned to London in 1988 and began collaborating with numerous well-known artists, including Soul II Soul, Sinéad O'Connor and Seal, while also working on film soundtracks and re-mixes.
