Raúl Baillères Chávez ( Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico, 1895 – 1967) created a business empire in Mexico. He founded the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) on 29 March 1946. His son, Alberto Baillères, was at the time of his death the second richest man in Mexico, and ninth in Latin America, according to ''Forbes'' magazine. Silao, Guanajuato
Silao is a municipality in the west-central part of the state of Guanajuato in Mexico. Its seat is the city of the same name. This municipality lies adjacent to the west side of the municipality of Guanajuato, the state capital. The Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (Mexico Autonomous Institute of Technology), commonly known as ITAM, is a private university. It is one of Mexico's most important institutions of higher learning; highly prestigious in the social sciences.
