Raymond Wong (film Director)
Raymond Wong Pak-ming (Chinese: 黃百鳴, born 8 April 1946; sometimes transliterated as Raymond Wong Bak-ming) is a Hong Kong film producer, playwright, director and actor. He is one of the most successful producers in Hong Kong cinema, having been one of the comedians to establish Cinema City Studios in 1980. Career Cinema City In 1980, Wong formed the renowned Cinema City Co., Ltd. with Karl Maka and Dean Shek. The production company became an industry phenomenon, producing films such as ''A Better Tomorrow'', ''Aces Go Places'', '' Prison on Fire'' and ''All About Ah-Long''. Actors such as Chow Yun-fat, Leslie Cheung and Ti Lung along with filmmakers John Woo, Ringo Lam and Tsui Hark were some of the people who rose to fame under the Cinema City label. British Hong Kong
Hong Kong was a colony and later a dependent territory of the British Empire from 1841 to 1997, apart from a period of occupation under the Japanese Empire from 1941 to 1945 during the Pacific War. The colonial period began with the British occupation of Hong Kong Island in 1841, during the First Opium War between the British and the Qing dynasty. Ringo Lam
Ringo Lam Ling-Tung (, Cantonese: Lam Ling-tung, 8 December 1955 – 29 December 2018) was a Hong Kong film director, producer, and screenwriter. Born in Hong Kong in 1955, Lam initially went to acting school. After finding he preferred making films to acting, he went to Canada to study film. In 1983, he returned and began filming comedy films. After the commercial success of his film ''Aces Go Places IV'', he was allowed to develop his own film. Lam directed '' City on Fire'' in 1987, which led him to winning his first Hong Kong Film Award. Lam followed up ''City on Fire'' with other similar films that shared a dark view of Hong Kong society. Many of these films starred Chow Yun-fat. In 1996, Lam made his first American film, ''Maximum Risk'' starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Lam would continue working on film productions in both Hong Kong and two more American productions with Jean-Claude Van Damme until 2003. Lam died at his home on 29 December 2018. ''All the Wrong Clues for the Right Solution'' () is a 1981 Hong Kong comedy film directed and co-written by Tsui Hark. The film stars George Lam as Yoho, Karl Maka as Ah Capone and Teddy Robin Kwan as Inspector Robin. Yoho is a down on his luck detective who find himself in trouble with the ganger Ah Capone who is planning to cheat elderly millionaires out of their stocks. The film was Tsui's first commercial success and was the fourth highest grossing Hong Kong film of 1981. ''Flash Point'' () is a 2007 Hong Kong action film directed by Wilson Yip and starring Donnie Yen, who also produced with Nansun Shi and Zhang Zhao.
