Ray Shaw (Australian Footballer)
Ray Shaw (born 27 April 1954) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). His younger brothers Tony and Neville as well as his two sons Heath and Rhyce also played for Collingwood. Shaw began his senior career at Preston in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), where he won a J. J. Liston Trophy in 1973 for the Best and Fairest player in the VFA first division. A Collingwood Best and Fairest Award winner, Shaw captained Collingwood to the 1979 Escort Cup Grand Final, where they defeated Hawthorn Football Club to win their first senior title since 1958. After a fallout with Collingwood officialdom in 1981, Shaw returned to Preston as captain-coach and led them to the 1983 and 1984 premierships. Macleod Football Club
Macleod Football Club is an Australian rules football club in Rosanna, Victoria, currently competing in Division 1 of the Northern Football League. History In 1946, Macleod F.C formed from humble beginnings Mr Harold Busbridge, who was the station master at the Macleod railway station, approached some local identities with the view to forming a football club in the local area. Interest in forming a club gathered momentum and at the next meeting it was decided unanimously to begin fund-raising and purchase jumpers and socks for the newly formed Macleod Football Club. Nick George, who later became Macleod's first captain, suggested the colours be blue and white as he had played at North Melbourne in the VFL for two years. 1958 VFL Grand Final
The 1958 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Melbourne Football Club and Collingwood Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 20 September 1958. It was the 61st annual grand final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1958 VFL season. The match, attended by 97,956 spectators, was won by Collingwood by 18 points, marking that club's 13th premiership victory. It was Melbourne's fifth successive grand final appearance. Waverley Football Club, nicknamed the Panthers, were an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) from 1961 until 1987. Waverley wore red and black as their club colours and was based at Central Reserve in the Melbourne suburb of Glen Waverley, Victoria, Glen Waverley. The Hawthorn Football Club, nicknamed the Hawks, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Mulgrave, Victoria, that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was founded in 1902 in the inner-east suburb of Hawthorn, making it the youngest Victorian-based team in the AFL.
