Ray D'Arcy
Raymond Michael D'Arcy (born 1 September 1964) is an Irish television and radio presenter currently on his second stint at state broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). He once presented a self-titled weekday morning radio programme on the Denis O'Brien-owned Today FM. His professional partner on that show, Jenny Kelly, became his wife on 24 August 2013 and they have two children: Tom (born June 2012) and Kate (born 25 November 2006). D'Arcy came to prominence with a television career on RTÉ, presenting children's television on ''The Den'', a quiz show called ''Blackboard Jungle'' and the youth music show '' 2Phat''. He presented television coverage of The Rose of Tralee beauty pageant each August for four consecutive years until 2010. He rejoined RTÉ in 2015. ''The Panel'' is a talk show produced by Happy Endings Productions for RTÉ, based on the Australian programme '' The Panel'', produced by Working Dog Productions for Network Ten. ''You're a Star'' is an Irish music competition series broadcast by RTÉ One from 2002 to 2008. Produced by the broadcaster and Screentime ShinAwiL, the series was similar to formats such as ''Idol'' and ''The X Factor''. For its first three series, ''You're a Star'' was used to choose the musician who would perform the Irish entry at the Eurovision Song Contest. In later series, the grand prize was changed to a recording contract with Universal Music Ireland (with the Irish selection now conducted via the Eurosong qualifier, whose finals are hosted by '' The Late Late Show''), and later music equipment and €50,000. Young Scientist And Technology Exhibition
The BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, commonly called the Young Scientist Exhibition, is an Irish annual school students' science competition that has been held in the Royal Dublin Society, Dublin, Ireland, every January since the competition was founded by Tom Burke and Tony Scott in 1965. For the 51st year of the competition in 2016, there were over 2,000 entries, from 396 schools which was the highest number ever, 550 of which were selected for the Exhibition at the RDS.
