Ray City, Georgia
Ray City is a city in Berrien County and Lanier County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,090 at the 2010 census. History Early variant names were "Ray's Pond" and "Ray's Mill". The community was named after Ray M. Thomas, the proprietor of a local mill. Geography Ray City is in southern Berrien County, with a small portion extending south into Lanier County. U.S. Route 129 passes through the city, leading north to Nashville, the Berrien county seat, and east to Lakeland, the Lanier county seat. Georgia State Route 125 leads south from Ray City to Valdosta, and State Route 37 leads west to Adel. According to the United States Census Bureau, Ray City has a total area of , of which , or 0.07%, are water. State Route 125 (SR 125) is a state highway that runs south-to-north in an S-shape through the southern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It travels through Lowndes, Lanier, Berrien, Tift, Irwin, and Ben Hill counties connecting the Valdosta and Fitzgerald metropolitan areas. Route description SR 125 begins at an intersection with U.S. Route 41 (US 41) and SR 7 (Inner Perimeter Road) on the north side of Valdosta. The route runs north-northeast, past Freedom Park and passes through Moody Air Force Base and intersects SR 122 at the meeting point of Lowndes, Berrien, and Lanier counties. The United States census of 2020 was the twenty-fourth decennial United States census. Census Day, the reference day used for the census, was April 1, 2020. Withlacoochee River (Suwannee River Tributary)
The Withlacoochee River originates in Georgia, northwest of Nashville, Georgia. It flows south through Berrien County where it joins the New River and forms part of the boundary between Berrien and Cook counties. It then flows south into Lowndes County, Georgia.
