Ravenna Football Club is an Italian association football club, based in Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna. It currently plays in Serie C after achieving promotion as Group D champions in the 2016-17 Serie D season. The club was founded in 1913. History Foundation The club was founded in 1913 as football section of sports club ''Unione Sportiva Ravennate''. In 1920, the club merged with ''Audace Football Club'', which was founded only one year earlier, in 1919. The same year the club joined the Italian Football Federation, being part of the Promozione league. Another merger in 1921 with ''S.G. Forti per essere Liberi'' brought the club to change its denomination to ''Unione Sportiva Ravennate Forti per essere Liberi''. The main sports club disbanded in 1928, with all its sports sections become separate entities; notably, the football one assuming the denomination of ''Associazione Calcio Ravenna''. Ravenna ( , , also ; rgn, Ravèna) is the capital city of the Province of Ravenna, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. It was the capital city of the Western Roman Empire from 408 until its collapse in 476. It then served as the capital of the Ostrogothic Kingdom until it was re-conquered in 540 by the Byzantine Empire. Afterwards, the city formed the centre of the Byzantine Exarchate of Ravenna until the last exarch was executed by the Lombards in 751. Teramo (; nap, label= Abruzzese, Tèreme ) is a city and ''comune'' in the Italian region of Abruzzo, the capital of the province of Teramo. Cesena (; rgn, Cisêna) is a city and ''comune'' in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, served by Autostrada A14, and located near the Apennine Mountains, about from the Adriatic Sea. The total population is 97,137. History Cesena was originally an Umbrian or Etruscan town, later known as Caesena. Leonardo Terigi (born 21 March 1991) is an Italian footballer who plays as a defender for club Ravenna. Career Born in Lucca, Tuscany, Terigi started his career at Ligurian club Genoa. Brian Filipi (11 August 1989 – 19 September 2009) was an Albanian football midfielder/striker who spent his short professional career with Ravenna. Club career Born in Lezhë, Brian Filipi made his first team debut with Ravenna in the 2008–09 season, being protagonist of the club's successful season which almost ended in promotion to Serie B from Lega Pro Prima Divisione, despite the Albanian's young age. Vincenzo Esposito (born 5 February 1963) is an Italian football coach and former player. He is the manager of club Livorno. Playing career A midfielder, Esposito made his Serie A debut in 1982 with Torino. He successively joined Prato. He successively played for Lazio in the Serie B, and then for Atalanta and Cesena at Serie A level. He retired in 1996 after a second stint at Prato, with whom he totalled almost 200 first team appearances in total.
