RashDash
RashDash is a British feminist theatre company. The company was founded by Abbi Greenland and Helen Goalen. Becky Wilkie later joined. They have produced and created many works, including '' We Want You to Watch.'' History Abbi Greenland and Helen Goalen formed RashDash in 2009 while attending the University of Hull. Greenland's parents were also theatre creators and participated in the political punk-theatre of the 1970s. While still students, Greenland and Goalen took a play called ''Strict Machine'' to the National Student Drama Festival. The first play officially produced by RashDash was ''The Honeymoon'', which centred on two women who had left their fiancés at the altar. Goalen and Greenland created the show with singer-songwriter Becky Wilkie. We Want You To Watch
''We Want You to Watch'' is a 2015 play by Alice Birch developed with the theatre company, RashDash.The play is a feminist critique of pornography. ''We Want You to Watch'' premiered at the National Theatre's Temporary Theatre under the direction of Caroline Steinbeis. Development RashDash, a feminist theatre company composed of Helen Goalen and Abbi Greenland, received funding from the West Yorkshire Playhouse to work with a playwright in developing a new work. They brought in Alice Birch to collaborate. ''We Want You to Watch'' was commissioned by The National Theatre and supported using public funding from the Arts Council England. During the 1970s and 1980s, feminist or women's theater was a specific, new type of theater. Since then, the theater genre itself has opened itself up to women's viewpoints. Some felt that it was no longer necessary to have a separate genre, because of increased parity. Many groups folded. However, even with that increased parity, men's roles continue to outweigh women's roles in mainstream theater, and the situations and challenges facing women continue to be severe. National Student Drama Festival
The UK based National Student Drama Festival (NSDF) was founded in 1956 with the purpose of creating new art, new artists and new communities. It also runs a charity aimed at empowering young artists. The NSDF is targeted towards people aged 16–25 years old (in 2021-22 they extended the age bracket to include 26-year olds). NSDF is a year-round organization whose work peaks at its annual festival: for one week, in one chosen city. There is a daily magazine, Noises Off, written by a team of writers and participants at the festival.
