List Of Bus Rapid Transit Systems
This is a list of bus rapid transit (BRT) systems which are in operation or under construction. The term "BRT" has been applied to a wide range of bus services. In 2012, the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) published a BRT Standard to make it easier to standardize and compare bus services. Africa Morocco * Marrakesh : BRT Marrakesh, opened 28 September 2017. Not BRT certified in 2022. Nigeria The Lagos Bus Rapid Transit System (Lagos BRT) is Africa's first. The Nigerian government is building a BRT system for the Lagos Metropolitan Area, and the project's first phase has been completed. The first phase, from mile 12 through Ikorodu Road and Funsho Williams Aveğnue to CMS, was commissioned on March 17, 2008. Not BRT certified in 2022. The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) BRT corridor is about 22 kilometres long. Two operators, NURTW Cooperative and the state-owned Lagos BRT, contributed about 180 high-capacity buses to the firs ...

Peshawar Circular Railway
Peshawar Circular Railway ( ur, ; ps, د پېښور حلقوي رېلوې; abbreviated PCR) or Greater Peshawar Mass-Transit Circular Rail Project is a proposed inter-regional commuter rail system for the Peshawar Valley or Greater Peshawar metropolitan area which aims to connect several industrial and commercial districts within Peshawar to the outlying suburbs and cities of Jamrud, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, with future expansion to Swabi. PCR will primarily serve the Metropolitan Peshawar region, with operations extending to several other communities. In August 2016, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa agreed to a $1.6 billion MoU with China Communication and Construction Company. This railway is expected to resolve transportation problems in the Peshawar region and generate jobs leading to the overall economic revival of the province. According to the memorandum, China Communication and Construction Company shall conduct a feasibility study, inclusive of concept design, ...

Karachi Circular Railway
Karachi Circular Railway (abbreviated as KCR) ( ur, , Sindhi: ڪراچي سرڪيولر ريلوي) is a partially active regional public transit system in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, which serves the Karachi metropolitan area. KCR was fully operational between 1964 to 1994, until it was abruptly shutdown in 1999. Since 2001, several restart attempts were sought and in November 2020, the KCR partially revived operations on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan. With its hub at Karachi City station on I. I. Chundrigar Road, KCR's revived operations would extend north to Gadap, east to Dhabeji, south to Kiamari and west to Hub in Balochistan. The revived KCR operation is intended to become an inter-regional public transit system in Karachi, with an aim to connect the city centre with several industrial and commercial districts within the city and the outlying localities. Revival efforts of KCR had been proposed several times since becoming defunct in 1999 and remained unfulfi ...

Third Rail
A third rail, also known as a live rail, electric rail or conductor rail, is a method of providing electric power to a railway locomotive or train, through a semi-continuous rigid conductor placed alongside or between the rails of a railway track. It is used typically in a mass transit or rapid transit system, which has alignments in its own corridors, fully or almost fully segregated from the outside environment. Third rail systems are usually supplied from direct current electricity. Modern tram systems, street-running, avoid the risk of electrocution by the exposed electric rail by implementing a segmented ground-level power supply, where each segment is electrified only while covered by a vehicle which is using its power. The third-rail system of electrification is not related to the third rail used in dual gauge railways. Description Third-rail systems are a means of providing electric traction power to trains using an additional rail (called a "conductor rail") fo ...

750 V DC
This is a list of the power supply systems that are, or have been, used for tramway and railway electrification systems. Note that the voltages are nominal and vary depending on load and distance from the substation. Many modern trams and trains use on-board solid-state electronics to convert these supplies to run three-phase AC induction motors. Tram electrification systems are listed here. Key to the tables below * Volts: voltage or volt * Current: ** DC = direct current ** # Hz = frequency in hertz (alternating current (AC)) *** AC supplies are usually single-phase (1Ø) except where marked three-phase (3Ø). * Conductors: ** overhead line or ** conductor rail, usually a third rail to one side of the running rails. Conductor rail can be: *** top contact: oldest, least safe, most affected by ice, snow, rain and leaves. Protection boards are being installed on most top contact systems, which increases safety and reduces these affections. *** side contact: newer, safer, less aff ...

Lahore Metro
Lahore Metro is an automated rapid transit system in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan and the first driverless metro in Pakistan. Three metro lines have been proposed, of which the Orange Line is operational. It is also Pakistan's first metro line system. History The Lahore Metro was first proposed in 1991 and reviewed in 1993 by the ''Lahore Traffic & Transport Studies'', funded by the World Bank. The project was subsequently shelved. In 2005, the Ministry of Transport revisited the project and carried out a feasibility study. In 2007, the Asian Development Bank provided to conduct a study on the project. The initial plan called for an rail network with 60 stations to be constructed in four separate phases. The first phase involved the construction of a rail line between Gajju Matta and Shahdara Bagh, with an section underground. Construction was expected to start in 2008 and be completed by 2010. However, in 2008, the project was shelved again as priorities shifted to other proje ...

Railway Electric Traction
Railway electric traction describes the various types of locomotive and multiple units that are used on electrification systems around the world. History Railway electrification as a means of traction emerged at the end of the nineteenth century, although experiments in electric rail have been traced back to the mid-nineteenth century. Thomas Davenport, in Brandon, Vermont, erected a circular model railroad on which ran battery-powered locomotives (or locomotives running on battery-powered rails) in 1834. Robert Davidson, of Aberdeen, Scotland, created an electric locomotive in 1839 and ran it on the Edinburgh-Glasgow railway at 4 miles per hour. The earliest electric locomotives tended to be battery-powered. In 1880, Thomas Edison built a small electrical railway, using a dynamo as the motor and the rails as the current-carrying medium. The electric current flowed through the metal rim of otherwise wooden wheels, being picked up via contact brushes. Electrical traction offered ...
