Randy Nelson (racing Driver)
Randall Neil Nelson (born June 6, 1926) is an educator and former political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Yorkton from 1975 to 1982 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a New Democratic Party (NDP) member. He was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, the son of Louis Nelson, and studied at the University of Saskatchewan, where he received a BEd degree. Nelson taught school at Naisberry, Spalding, Simpson and Yorkton. In 1948, he married Isobelle Louise Long. He was defeated by Lorne Aubrey McLaren when he ran for reelection to the Saskatchewan assembly in 1982. Yorkton is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. It has historically almost always voted for the governing party, selecting an opposition candidate only twice in its history ( 1938 & 1960). The current boundaries of the constituency were set by the ''Representation Act, 2012'' (Saskatchewan). Founded as "York City" in 1882, Yorkton (pop. 15,038) became a city on February 1, 1928. Legislative Assembly Of Saskatchewan
The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) is a social-democratic political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It currently forms the official opposition, but has been a dominant force in Saskatchewan politics since the 1940s. The party is the successor to the Saskatchewan section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), and is affiliated with the federal New Democratic Party. Rosetown, Saskatchewan
Rosetown is a town in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, at the junction of provincial Highway 7 and Highway 4, approximately 115 km southwest of Saskatoon. The town's motto, "The Heart of the Wheat Belt" reflects its history of being a farming community. A referendum was held in 2001, spearheaded by resident Teneal Crossman, to change the motto to “The Heart of the Meat Belt” to reflect the booming beef industry. The motto remained unchanged in a landslide vote supporting the original motto and Crossman soon left town. Yorkton is a city located in south-eastern Saskatchewan, Canada. It is about 450 kilometres north-west of Winnipeg and 300 kilometres south-east of Saskatoon and is the sixth largest city in the province. As of 2017 the census population of the city was 19,643. Lorne Aubrey McLaren (August 17, 1928 – January 4, 2009) is a former political figure in Saskatchewan.
