Randwick DRUFC
Randwick District Rugby Union Football Club, also known as the Galloping Greens, is an Australian rugby union club which competes in the Sydney premier grade rugby union competition. The club was formed in 1882 and since then has won 32 first grade premierships and six Australian club championships. It is one of the traditional powerhouses of the Shute Shield competition, winning 14 titles from 1978 to 1996. Randwick's colours are myrtle green and the club's home ground is Coogee Oval. In the 1980s the club produced many Wallabies, including the Ella brothers. Its history has seen many of Australia's best players represent the club, including the likes of George Gregan and David Campese. In all, 93 Randwick players have pulled on a Wallaby jersey, and nine have had the honour of captaining their country. Coogee, New South Wales
Coogee is a beachside suburb of local government area City of Randwick 8 kilometres south-east of the Sydney central business district, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is typically associated as being part of the Eastern Suburbs region. The Tasman Sea and Coogee Bay along with Coogee Beach lie towards the eastern side of the suburb. John Brass (born 7 October 1946) is an Australian former rugby union and rugby league footballer - a dual-code international. Phillip Francis Hawthorne (24 October 1943 – 18 September 1994) was an Australian rugby league and rugby union footballer – a dual-code international. He represented the Wallabies in twenty-one Tests and the Kangaroos in three Tests. He captained Australia in rugby league the 3rd Test of the 1970 Ashes series. Adam Freier (born 20 March 1980) is a rugby union footballer. In 2011 and 2012 he played for the in the Super Rugby competition, and retired at the end of 2012 from professional rugby. Owen Finegan
Owen Finegan (born 22 April 1972, in Sydney) is an Australian former rugby union player who played as a flanker or lock, for the Australian national team. Finegan is currently the CEO of The Kids' Cancer Project Australia. He was a key performer for the ACT Brumbies from their inception in 1996, joining from Randwick Rugby Club. Finegan played in 90 Super 12 matches for the Brumbies and was one of three remaining foundation players in the 2005 squad. Russell Lance Fairfax (born 29 March 1952, Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian former Rugby Union and Rugby League player. Edward Joseph Fahey (7 July 1888 – 23 August 1950) was an Australian rugby union player and World War I artilleryman. He was a state and national representative lock forward who made two international rugby tours and who captained the Wallabies on the 1913 Australia rugby union tour of New Zealand. Rocky Elsom
Rocky Elsom (born 14 February 1983) is a former Australian rugby union player. He played the positions of flanker and number eight. He was selected for 75 caps for Australia. He is the most capped Australian blindside flanker. Elsom was the 76th Australian test captain, having replaced Stirling Mortlock in 2009 for two years. Glen Joseph Ella (born 5 June 1959) is a former Australian rugby union player and coach. Ella played as a Fullback for Randwick, Manly and New South Wales.
