The cemetery is one of the oldest in the area and was created in 1851 with the burial of Alexander Ramsey. The cemetery has been associated with many different legends and ghostlore stories. Shumway is a village in Effingham County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2020 census, the village population was 188. Shumway is part of the Effingham, IL Micropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Shumway is located in northern Effingham County at (39.184144, -88.652977). Illinois Route 33 crosses the southwest corner of the village, leading southeast to Effingham, the county seat, and west to Beecher City. According to the 2010 census, Shumway has a total area of , all land. Education Shumway is in the Beecher City/Shumway School District., although in earlier years, rural Shumway residents in Summit Township have filed petitions to leave the district. Older residents of this area still hold allegiances to Effingham High School. The reason for this "allegiance" was because when Shumway High School closed, many students east and south of Shumway went to Effingham schools. The Clash
The Clash were an English rock band formed in London in 1976 who were key players in the original wave of British punk rock. Billed as "The Only Band That Matters", they also contributed to the and new wave movements that emerged in the wake of punk and employed elements of a variety of genres including reggae, dub, funk, ska, and rockabilly. Michael Alan Kleen is a publisher, folklorist, and politician from Illinois. He was the 2013 Republican nominee for mayor of Rockford, Illinois.
