The Gujarat Sahitya Akademi ( gu, ગુજરાત સાહિત્ય અકાદમી) or Gujarat Sahitya Academy, established in 1981, is a government institution dedicated to the development of the languages spoken in Gujarat, India and their literature. Vinod Bhatt
Vinod Bhatt (14 January 1938 – 23 May 2018) was a Gujarati humour essayist and biographer from Gujarat, India. Biography Vinod Bhatt was born on 14 January 1938 at Nandol near Dehgam (now in Gujarat) to Jashvantlal and Jayabahen. He matriculated in 1955 and graduated in arts from H. L. Commerce College in 1961. He passed LL.B. in 1964. He worked as a sales tax consultant initially and as an income tax consultant. He was a freelance writer by profession. He was the president of Gujarati Sahitya Parishad from 1996 to 1997. He had written humour columns in Gujarati dailies, ''Mag Nu Naam Mari'' in ''Gujarat Samachar'' and ''Idam Trityam'' in ''Divya Bhaskar''. Taarak Janubhai Mehta was an Indian columnist, humourist, writer and playwright who is best known for the column ''Duniya Ne Undha Chasma'',and was a well-known figure in Gujarati theatre. His humorous weekly column first appeared in '' Chitralekha'' in March 1971 and looked at contemporary issues from a different perspective. He published 80 books in his whole career. In 2008, SAB TV – a popular entertainment channel in India, started the sitcom ''Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'' based on his column, and soon it became the flagship show of the channel. He joined Gujarat College, Ahmedabad in 1884 and completed his B.A. from Elphinstone College, Bombay in 1887 and later obtained his LL.B. His first wife Hansvadan died at a young age and he married again to Vidyagauri Nilkanth, one of the first female graduates from state, in 1887. He worked as a clerk in the government office.
