Rajshahi Divisional Stadium
Shaheed A. H. M. Qamaruzzaman Stadium ( bn, শহীদ এএইচএম কামারুজ্জামান স্টেডিয়াম), also known as Rajshahi Divisional Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Rajshahi, Bangladesh. The stadium is named after AHM Qumaruzzaman, who is one of the four national leader. History It is currently used mostly for cricket matches. The stadium has capacity for 15,000 spectators and was built in 2004. The venue has hosted three group stage matches of 2004 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and four matches of 2010 South Asian Games. The stadium recently got funding from the government to increase its seating capacity and make major improvements on the field. The stadium will be leased by the BPL's local franchise Rajshahi Kings to use it as the home field for the team. It is the largest stadium of Northern Bangladesh. Rajshahi ( bn, রাজশাহী, ) is a metropolis, metropolitan city and a major urban, commercial and educational centre of Bangladesh. It is also the administrative seat of the eponymous Rajshahi Division, division and Rajshahi District, district. Cricket At The 2010 South Asian Games
Cricket was included for the first time at the 2010 South Asian Games, hosted by Dhaka, Bangladesh. A men's Twenty20, 20-over tournament was played from 31 January to 7 February 2010. The tournament was contested by five of the eight members of the South Asian Games, South Asian Sports Council, with squads restricted to players aged 21 or under. Two venues were used – the Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi and the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. National Cricket League
The National Cricket League is the oldest domestic first-class cricket competition in Bangladesh. It is contested by teams representing seven of the eight regional divisions of Bangladesh (there is no team from Mymensingh Division) as well as a team from the Dhaka metropolitan area. History and format The National Cricket League was inaugurated in the 1999–2000 season but was not then first-class. Bangladesh became the tenth Full Member of the ICC in 2000 and the league became first-class in the 2000–01 season. Rajshahi Division Cricket Team
The Rajshahi Division cricket team is a Bangladeshi first-class team representing the Rajshahi Division, one of the country's seven administrative regions. The team competes in the National Cricket League and was formerly a participant in the now-defunct National Cricket League One-Day. In the short-lived National Cricket League Twenty20 competition, played in the 2009–10 season only, Rajshahi adopted the name Rajshahi Rangers and played in their official grey, black, and red colours. The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) ( bn, বাংলাদেশ প্রিমিয়ার লীগ) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league consisting of seven franchises. The BPL is one of the three professional cricket leagues in Bangladesh. It is the 16th most attended premier league in the world. In winter, each team faces the other twice in the league stage. Following the conclusion of the regular season, the top four teams advance to the playoffs, a single-elimination game, and two qualifier games culminating in the Championship game, between the winner of Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2. 2004 Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2004 ICC Under-19 World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament played in Bangladesh from 15 February to 5 March 2004. It was the fifth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup and the first to be held in Bangladesh. The 2004 World Cup was contested by sixteen teams, including one (Uganda) making its tournament debut. After an initial group stage, the top eight teams played off in a super league to decide the tournament champions, with the non-qualifiers playing a separate "plate" competition. Pakistan and the West Indies eventually progressed to the final, played at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, where Pakistan won by 25 runs to claim their maiden title. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out").
