Rajani (born Shashi Kaur Malhotra; 27 July 1965) is an Indian actress known for her work in Telugu language, Telugu, Tamil language, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam films. She has worked in 150 feature films including ''Rendu Rellu Aaru'' (1986), ''Seetharama Kalyanam (1986 film), Seetharama Kalyanam'' (1986), ''Aha Naa Pellanta (1987 film), Aha Naa Pellanta'' (1987), ''Majnu (1987 film), Majnu'' (1987). She also starred in Kannada films including ''Jai Karnataka'' (1989), a remake of the 1987 Hindi film ''Mr. India (1987 film), Mr. India'' and ''Neenu Nakkare Haalu Sakkare'' (1991). ''Rajani'' is an Indian television series which aired on Doordarshan directed by Basu Chatterjee. It had Priya Tendulkar in lead role. It became immensely popular for creating awareness among lax government offices and officials. Shah Rukh Khan and Subhash Ghai had cameo appearances in two episodes. It was written by Karan Razdan and Anil Chaudhary, with the title track being sung by Asha Bhosle. Premise Rajani fights government laxity in every episode. It tried to reflect the mid-1980s state of services at government offices. Public utilities that were criticised in the series included electricians, postmen, telephone wiremen, and the gas cylinder agency with its delivery boys. ''Rajani'' is a 2009 Indian Kannada-language romantic comedy film directed by Thriller Manju and produced by Ramu for his banner Ramu Enterprises. The movie is a remake of 2008 Telugu film ''Krishna'' (2008). The film features Upendra and Aarti Chabria in the lead roles. The film's score and soundtrack is composed by Hamsalekha. The film released across Karnataka on 18 September 2009 coinciding Upendra's birthday.
