The Government of Maharashtra is the state governing authority for the state of Maharashtra, India. It is a democratically elected government with 288 MLAs elected to the Vidhan Sabha for a five-year term. Maharashtra has a Maharashtra Legislature which consists of two Houses, the Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) and the Vidhan Parishad (Legislative Council). As is the case in a parliamentary system, the government is formed by the party, alliance or group of assembly members who command the majority in the Lower House. Ramesh Bais
Ramesh Bais (born 2 August 1947) is an Indian politician who has served as the 10th Governor of Jharkhand since July 2021. He also served as the 18th Governor of Tripura in July 2019 to July 2021. A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he had served as a Union Minister of State (Independent charge) for Environment and Forests in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government from 1999. He was elected to the 9th (1989) & 11th to 16th (1996-2019) Lok Sabha from Raipur. Personal life Bais was born on 2 August 1948 in Raipur, Madhya Pradesh (now in Chhattisgarh) to Khom Lal Bais. Until the 18th century, Bombay consisted of seven islands separated by shallow sea. These seven islands were part of a larger archipelago in the Arabian sea, off the western coast of India. The date of city's founding is unclear—historians trace back urban settlement to the late 17th century after the British secured the seven islands from the Portuguese to establish a secure base in the region. Walter Charles Rand
Walter Charles Rand (12 May 1863 – 3 July 1897) was an Indian Civil Service officer in British India. An epidemic of bubonic plague spread in Pune in 1896. On 19 February 1897, Rand was appointed as plague commissioner of the city. He misused his post and looted innocent Indians and humiliated women." Rand's efforts to control plague were tyrannical and brutal and reminded by many in Pune including Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Rand and his military escort Lt.
