Rainy Season (short Story)
''Rainy Season'' is a short horror story by Stephen King, first published in the Spring 1989 issue of ''Midnight Graffiti'' magazine, and later included in King's ''Nightmares & Dreamscapes'' collection. It ended a bout of writer's block from which King had been suffering. Plot summary A young husband and wife on summer vacation rent a house in a small town called Willow, Maine, only to be warned repeatedly (if vaguely) to leave by the local inhabitants. They do not comply and, having purchased groceries, return to the house. They learn the price for prosperity the citizens of Willow must pay: every seven years a husband and wife will go there from outside and will stay, despite protests, to become sacrifices during the rainy season. When the "rain" starts, the couple learns the nature of the precipitation: an army of grotesque black toads the size of footballs, armed with needle-sharp teeth and able to chew through doors and walls. Monni (band)
Monni () is a South Korean rock band signed to Modern Boy Entertainment. The quintet consists of Kim Sin-eui (vocals), Gong Tae-woo (guitar), Lee In-kyoung (bass), and Jung Hoon-tae (drums). The band formed in 2004 and they released their debut studio album ''First Day, Light'' the following year with their original drummer Song Ju-hwan. Following his departure from the band, Jung was recruited to take his place. The band released its second studio album ''This Moment'' in 2010. In celebration of their 10-year anniversary, they released a compilation entitled ''Monni 10th Anniversary Best Album Fix''. History Beginning in winter 2003, Kim Sin-eui, Lee In-kyoung, Song Ju-hwan, and a keyboardist began practicing collectively. Kim read the word "monni" () in a newspaper and "immediately felt that it fit the image of our band, because the simply truth is, we are all greedy for good music". James Blaylock
James Paul Blaylock (born September 20, 1950) is an American fantasy author. He is noted for a distinctive, humorous style, as well as being one of the pioneers of the steampunk genre of science fiction. Blaylock has cited Jules Verne, H. G. Wells, Robert Louis Stevenson, Arthur Conan Doyle and Charles Dickens as his inspirations. He was born in Long Beach, California; studied English at California State University, Fullerton, receiving an M.A. in 1974; and lives in Orange, California, teaching creative writing at Chapman University. He taught at the Orange County School of the arts until 2013. Many of his books are set in Orange County, California, and can more specifically be termed " fabulism"that is, fantastic things happen in our present-day world, rather than in high fantasy, where the setting is often some other world.
