Rai 4 (pronounced ''Rai Quattro'') is an Italian free-to-air television channel owned and operated by state-owned public broadcaster RAI – Radiotelevisione italiana. Launched on 14 July 2008 with the film ''Elephant'', Rai 4 targets youths with films, TV series and anime. History Rai 4 was launched, after a countdown, on 14 July 2008 at 21:00 CEST with the broadcast of the film Elephant. In the starting phase, it mainly had cult TV series, films, in addition to the "home runs" of L'Isola dei Famosi and X Factor (both programs on Rai 2). The management was entrusted to Carlo Freccero from the launch date until 4 August 2013, followed by the interim of Luigi Gubitosi until mid-October. 1080i
1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. A related display resolution is 1080p, which also has 1080 lines of resolution; the "p" refers to progressive scan, which indicates that the lines of resolution for each frame are "drawn" on the screen in sequence. Rai Storia ( English: Rai History) is an Italian television channel owned by Rai Cultura, an arm of broadcaster RAI available on digital terrestrial television in Italy. Launched on 17 June 2002 as Rai Edu 2, the channel adopted its current name on 2 February 2009 and it is broadcast in Italy on DTT channel 54 on mux ''Rai 4''. In May 2016 the channel stopped broadcasting advertisements. Since then it is funded solely by the license fee. Rai News 24 is an Italian free-to-air television channel owned and operated by state-owned public broadcaster RAI – Radiotelevisione italiana. It is the company's all-news television channel, and is known for its 24-hour rolling news service and its live coverage of breaking news. History It was launched on 26th April 1999 at 6am. RaiSat
RaiSat was a subsidiary of RAI created in 1997 to produce thematic TV channels for satellite television that are now available in IPTV and digital terrestrial television with various providers. History Rai Sat was created as external company in 1997 to create the first satellite channels of public service. In July 1999, with the transfer from Rai's staff that was employed towards thematic channels, the company began to produce the first pay satellite platform networks for Tele+, then reorganized under Sky. In 2009, following the non-renewal of the contract with Sky (Platform for which RaiSat produced exclusively its channels) it was announced that the parent company was preparing to fold RaiSat. Until 18 March 2010, the shareholders of RaiSat were Rai (with 95% shares) and RCS MediaGroup (with 5% shares), On that date, the proportion of shares owned by RCS (equivalent to three million €) was liquidated. X Factor (Italian TV Series)
''X Factor Italia'' is a TV show which airs on prime time in Italy. The singing competition is the Italian version of Britain's ''The X Factor''. As of Season 16, it is currently hosted by Francesca Michielin. Francesco Facchinetti hosted the show's first four seasons before being replaced by Alessandro Cattelan for Season 5 up to Season 14 before being replaced by Ludovico Tersigni for one season. While the first four seasons were aired on Rai Due, the second channel of Italian public television service, at the moment the show is broadcast on Sky Uno, the main channel of Sky Italy.
