Rahul Roy (politician)
Rahul Roy is an Indian politician from the state of Assam. He is a former member of Assam Legislative Assembly for Algapur, serving from 2006 to 2011. He is a former member of Indian National Congress, but is currently independent. He unsuccessfully sought reelection in Algapur in 2011, and in 2016. In 2021, he unsuccessfully sought the Udharbond seat, but was the richest candidate in the election. Assam Legislative Assembly
The Assam Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Assam. It is housed in Guwahati, the capital city of Assam, geographically situated in present Western Assam region. The Legislative Assembly comprises 126 Members of Legislative Assembly, directly elected from single-seat constituencies. Its term is five years, unless sooner dissolved. Gautam Roy
Gautam Roy (born 14 November 1948) is a politician of the Hailakandi District of Assam. He was six times MLA from Katlicherra constituency. He was also minister in Hiteswar Saikia and the Tarun Gogoi led Congress ministry several times. Gautam Roy was the vice president of BCCI and also the president of Assam Cricket Association. Currently he is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Early life and education Roy was born on 14 November 1948. His father, the late Santosh Kumar Roy, was a member of Assam Legislative Assembly for Katlicherra from 1972 to 1978. Roy is an arts graduate from S.S. college from the 1969 batch. Mandira Roy is an Indian politician from the state of Assam. She is a former member of Assam Legislative Assembly, having won a by-election in 2013 for Algapur. Education and personal life Roy has an H.S.L.C. from Indre Kumari Girls Higher Secondary School. Roy is married to Gautam Roy, the son of Santosh Kumar Roy who was a former member of Assam Legislative Assembly for Katlicherra. Santosh Kumar Roy was an Indian politician from the state of Assam. He was a former Member of Assam Legislative Assembly for Katlicherra. He was the father of Gautam Roy, father in law of Mandira Roy, grandfather of Rahul Roy and grandfather in law of Daisy Roy. 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
The Assam Legislative Assembly Election of 2016 was held in two phases, on 4 and 11 April 2016, to elect members of the 126 constituencies in Assam, a state in North-eastern India. The overall voter turnout was 84.72%, which set a new record for Assam. The turnout was an increase from the 2011 Assembly election figure of 75%.
