Ragnvald Vaage
Ragnvald Vaage (29 April 1889 – 27 June 1966) was a Norwegian poet, novelist and children's writer. Biography He was born at Husnes in Kvinnherad, Norway. His parents were Ola Larsson Vaage (1844–97) and Ragnhild Larsdotter Oppsanger (1855–89). In 1906 he started at Voss Folk High School (''Voss Folkehøgskule'') at Seim where he stayed for two years. Then he spent a year at Jæren and studied horticulture. He later attended Askov College (''Askov Højskole'') in Vejen. His first poetry collections were ''Liv som strir'' (1912), ''Bylgja'' (1913) and ''Strengspel'' (1914). Among his children's books are ''Gutane på Tedneholmen'' (1923) ''Den forunderlege vegen'' (1949), ''Den gode sumaren'' (1955) and the prize-winning ''Stivnakkane'' (1957). His novel ''Den vonde draumen'' (1953) was awarded with Sunnmørsprisen. He was married in 1916 with Dorothea Raunehaug (1892-1973) and was the grandfather of author and playwright Lars Amund Vaage. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with more than two million unique visitors per month. Inge Krokann
Inge Krokann (19 August 1893 – 27 September 1962) was a Norwegian writer. His most famous work is '' I Dovre Sno '' (1929), an epic story of the Loe family during the Middle Ages. Because his writing was full of local expressions and is so strongly tied to the use of the Oppdal dialect and idiosyncratic Nynorsk, his works are largely inaccessible and difficult to translate. Biography Ingebrikt Krokann was born at Oppdal in Trøndelag, Norway. He was the son of Trond Jonsson Krokann (1858-1936) and Dørdi Olsdatter Lo (1859-1933). In 1915 he took his final exam at Volda lærarskule. He worked as a teacher first at the children's school in Rennebu. During the winter of 1917–18, he got a leave to go to Askov Folk High School in Denmark, and then he took a college course in Volda. From 1920 to 1923 he taught at Skogn Folkhøgskule. Lars Amund Vaage
Lars Amund Vaage was born in 1952 at Sunde, Kvinnherad on the west coast of Norway, and studied classical piano at the Bergen Music Conservatory. He made his literary debut in 1979 with the novel Exercise Cold Winter, and has since published award-winning novels, short stories and collections of poetry, and a long essay on the art of storytelling, Sorrow and Song, 2016. In 1995 he had a definitive breakthrough in Norway with the Critics’ Prize-winning novel Rubato. In 2012, his acclaimed novel Sing, based on his experience of being the parent of a severely autistic child, was a national bestseller, winning the national Brage Prize and nominated for the Critics’ Prize. Husnes
Husnes is the largest village in Kvinnherad municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the southern shore of the Hardangerfjorden on the Folgefonna peninsula, about south of the village of Herøysund and immediately north of the villages of Sunde and Valen. The lake Onarheimsvatnet lies along the southwestern part of the village between Husnes and Sunde. The village has a population (2019) of 2,189 and a population density of . When the neighboring villages of Sunde and Valen are included, the entire urban area includes just under 4,500 people. Husnes is centered on the huge factory owned by ''Hydro'', formerly Sør-Norge Aluminium, and the village has become the center of commerce and education in Kvinnherad municipality, as well as the site of Husnes Church.
